Underhood Insulation

Have you kept your underhood insulation? Replaced it? or just taken it off completely?

I think the only thing its there for is to kill out some noise.. wouldnt make sense to try and keep heat in.. Take it off and youll probabily find 5-10 lbs of crap that you dont need

I dare say your paint isn't going to appreciate the high amounts of heat it would be seeing without the insulation. I've even seen some people with vented hoods putting insulation back on to help keep things cool.

Arrow Aluminum shields

You can always get some aluminum heat shield stuff to replace it from Summit Racing or Jegs. Not that expensive but will keep the heat from bringing the temperature of the hood up too high in the summer months. At worst I don't think that it will cause any immediate harm to the hood but in the long run it will shorten the life span on the paint.

My first FD the insulation was in bad shape, so I removed it and had no problems (2 years) The one I have now is still in great shape so I've left it on so far.
