sign the title and send it to me. jp. i think u can go to the dealship with your vin number and they will cut u a key. or u can get a locksmith to make you one if u give him the lock.

The dealership can build the key off the VIN. You just need to bring proof of ownership of the car.

A good locksmith can make you a copy as long as you have the two pieces or the original key.

Yeah, just call a few locksmiths out of the Yellow Pages, explain your situation and get some rough quotes. Cutting a key using a variety of methods to determine the correct tumbler pattern is no biggie. If nothing else, take your door lock out and take to the locksmith, he can look at the numbers on the tumblers and key one quickly.

+1

It should be around 10 bucks for a pair of keys. And the scary thing is, in my experience most dealerships don't even ask for the proof of ownership.

Just got two keys cut for my car via the dealer. I don't like the generic keys as they sometimes do not work right every time due to variations in the cuts.

They ALWAYS require proof of ownership before cutting the key.

It's not rocket science to cut new keys, extract any parts of the key stuck in the lock and give both parts to a locksmith and wait while he cuts you new keys. Keys are simple to make guys, a good smith can look at your keys stuck inside your car and cut you new ones on the spot outside your window. Shouldn't cost more than $50 for an emergency scenario like that.
