turbo stud or bolt

Guys,

Should I replace the turbo and manifold studs with bolts? If so, what kind of bolts? what kind of metal? Where to get them?
What is your experience with studs and bolts?

Did you find the bolts your were looking for? I looked on the site and I couldn't find the exhaust studs for metric use. The moly studs look like they would work, but unless they are metric, they might as well be fishing line weights.

Good site.
So is it better to change to bolt?
I did some search here, but could not find the answer whether to replace studs with bolts. I think those moly bolts would work in place of studs.

Studs and nuts are generally better than bolts. They are supposed to stay tight where bolts might loosen. I have never really grasped the reason why this is so, but it is what I have gathered from reading about this stuff. Stick with studs and nuts.

reza, if you need some bolts or stock studs for the downpipe i might have a few extra new ones in my toolbox. my vote goes for bolts since it is much simpler. it also depends on the downpipe and how well things fit.

Studs are nice because you can slide the turbos on and then add the nuts. If you used bolts you would have to hold the darned thing in place as you inserted them.

That said, during my rebuild I had a few studs break and I repaced them with grade 8 bolts because they were available.

ARP makes some of the nicest stuff in the business; can't go wrong there.

Is it the same high temp studs and bolts?
What brand is it? Type? model? Mectris/SAE?
