Turbo question

I was wondering if any of you have experienced what am going thru.

In first gear the second turbo seems to not come on, however in 2nd gear the turbo comes on. 3rd is fine and so is 4th and 5th.

Some times in 2nd, the second turbo doesn't come on either until in 3rd or later gears.

any tips??

thanks

Do you have a boost guage? It alot harder to diagnose turbo problems without one...

nice sig. Dubulup. i really like the ILLUMINATED key hole.

Ok, like the other post, I had this IDENTICAL problem. Turned out to be a faulty check valve under the Upper Intake Manifold (UIM). I don't recall exactly which one it was, but mine had actually split in two and was very obvious. Taking off the UIM is not too difficult, but becareful not to pinch anything when putting it back on.
Good Luck!

go to this site and look under the section of secondary turbocharger control, then under turbo control solenoid/actuator.

http://home.istar.ca/~dvandit/TurboT...shooting.shtml

in case the link doesn't work:

"A typical problem is loss of Secondary boost in 1st or 2nd gear at 4,500 RPM, but reliable operation in other gears. This points to one side of the Turbo Control Actuator not getting it's pressure/vacuum, so it will still operate but not quickly enough."

i don't have any good pictures of them. but, they are little plastic green things in line with the vacuum hose. there should be one located directly under the pressure chamber for instance. the pressure chamber is the hollow black box right in front of the UIM.

I think that the check valves are $15-20 each from a dealer, but i could be off.
