Trying to get to FPD

Ok, trying to change out my FPD, its a stock 93.

I've already pulled the UIM, coil packs, oil fill tube.

I'm trying to pull the rat's nest but it won't come out.. the ACV is still on the LIM and the alternator is loose, but won't come out either.

Trying to get to the Primary rail so i can swap this tiny *** part... anyone know how? pics? i'm freakin stuck.

Hmmmm im on the same mission doing the vac hose job. Make sure you removed the 3 phillips screws in the back and front. Umm all connections to selenoids. The coilpack (you got that). Umm and the hoses. Thats all I can honestly think of.

[Edit] Good Luck on the Phillips screws [Edit]

Nope, not yet at least.

http://www.rx7turboturbo.com/robrobinette/hoses.htm

or

http://rx7.voodoobox.net/
Then go to How To, then Vacuum Hose Job.

It will explain how to remove the Rats Nest.

See if either of those two help.

BTW There are 4 phillips screws in the front. One was hidden from view when I was taking it out. BTW the selenoid on the top rack holds it down the top rack from the bottom one. Just found out the hard way =P!

Just pull the whole thing off, remove the fuel lines and pull the whole thing out, much better then stripping screws.

problem with getting to all the fuel lines, pretty much means cutting them, since you cannot reach the clamps that hold them down to the FPD and FPR from up top without the nest gone..

I'm pretty much set on going NS on this car as well.. just soo much easier to work on.. just have to save up for a PFC. luckily i still have all my old NS stuff, so we'll see what happens. Thanks for all the replies, but as it seems, the only way to get the **** out is to hack it up.

If anyone has a clear pic of what the FPD looks like mounted on the car, I'd really appreciate it. I am thinking of replacing mine, but need to try and determine if its a project I am capable of. I looked at the manual, but the diagram leaves something to be desired and I'm visually challenged...

Thanks.

Look at that thread Majik linked, it has some pics.
Also https://www.rx7club.com/forum/showth...readid=138077.
You don't need to remove ALL the screws to remove the nest from the rack, but since you have the coils and stuff out of the way, taking the rack off shouldn't be hard. I was able to remove all the fuel line clamps, expect you should be able to, also.

Pete don't go non sequential man do the sequential simplification

and don't hack up the car just work on it a little bit at a time so you don't get frustrated.

I think it's time do get rid of all the emissions garbage now. Get a block off plate kit and get rid of the cat (shouldn't overboost with stock catback in place) and do the turbo simplification.

good luck

nah i've done nonseq before.. i prefer it. it might cost a little bit of green now, but it will rid me of any headaches later on down the road. plus if it ever blows, pulling the engine is WAY faster.
