OH Transmission Questions

Any links to websites or places that I could get either a new 5 speed tranny or my current one rebuilt? Thanks

how bad is your transmission? if it only the 5th gear synchro theres a write up somewhere on how to replace it.

It was just that, but now when I start my car...it will not shift into gear...not 1 thru 5 or even reverse...I just recently have had the engine rebuilt but the tranny has 130k miles on it so i'm thinking it needs replaced...plus I want to change the clutch out so, might as well do it as once...

Forgive the stupid question, but are you sure your clutch is fully disengaging?

Yea, pretty sure...I dunno what's up...I drove it for roughly an hour yesterday..all on the highway..parked it, then this morning it would go into gear...Frustrating!

$75 part, unless you want to buy a used one that isnt' the stronger design.

In any case, I agree that something in your clutch isn't working. If you can shift with the car still and engine off, but not with the engine running, your clutch is not disengaging.

Also, since the tranny is the original one from the car...130k on it...should I just try to find a used one with relatively low miles on it and just replace it?

If it won't shift with the engine off, it's probably within the tranny.

You could take it to a rotary shop, but any good transmission place can find the problem. In most cases, rebuilding a tranny will cost way more than using a low-mileage imported tranny. Those are $650 every time, while rebuilds usually end up costing more, sometimes much more.

This is true, while on the otherhand I really wanna need to figure out what is going on with the back end of my car...My guys exact words where, "i'm afraid the back end it going to fall apart"...I have new rear struts, a new ppf, and the car has been aligned then re-checked to make sure all is good...I have no idea what could be wrong but this is too stressful and the last thin I want to do is sell my 7...But I just don't know what to do!

i foresee more damage the more you drive and force into gears . somethings is obviously wrong. once my fd got stuck in 3rd gear and no amount of man power could pull it out . had it towed home from the track and had to have it completely rebuilt . ripped up alot of the insides just trying to pull it out of gear and getting to the pits in gear . IMO pull it fix it . you dont want to be stuck rather you decide when it goes down

I have a honda accord for a daily driver, so my fd is just siiting at my moms house ( im away at college) but my main problem is also related to anther thread. The fd is really rough in the back and I cant figure out wat the problem is. The rear struts are new, i have a new ppf and the car has been aligned...but it is still really rough...I know it has something to do with the transmission... but not sure what exactly...I just want to be sure that if I rebuild the tranny/replace the clutch that it will solve my problems...so if anyone has had this problem please help!
