Tranny Swap

Hey guys, i have a 93 auto FD, thats up for sale but if no one buys it i think im going to make it a summer project. I want to convert it into a manual and maybe throw in a new 13B. Has anyone made their automatics into manuals? if so how much did the whole process cost? and what all do i have to buy? Thanks.

I just did it.

You need a lot of parts. Not sure who you should use in the US.

The hardest pieces are the pedal assembly, shift console, and harness (the auto can be sliced up to work if you want)

The rest are common sense..

Did it.

That other guy is wromg tho...

KEEP the auto harness. You just need to change one wire. No need to swap the whole harness out.

Also, the shifter console works too. All you need is the plastic ring that holds the boot.

They are right about the pedals - if you find those, everything else is a piece of cake.

You should do the reliability mods.

Downpipe, boost controller, etc.

Yea i intend to do the reliability mods. I mean while im swapping the transmission, should i get a different clutch, because i hear the stock clutch isnt the best. Or change the imput shaft seal to the tranny? I guess if im going to get a fairly new transmission there wont be any need for that, i was just wondering if i should change somethings that may give me problems down the road.

Good 5 speed trans-$350.00
Pedals-$200-400.00 depending what is available on the market
Slave Cylinder-$60.00
CLutch Master-$90.00
Stock Shifter-$25.00
Shifter Boot-$40.00
Clutch lines-$60.00
Starter-$50.00
Stock Flywheel-$50.00
5 speed driveshaft-$50.00
Manual diff flange-$25.00
Good used aftermarket clutch-$250.00

Getting rid of the auto.....Priceless Just messing with you auto owners

Keep your auto harness, the manual trans will mate up to the rear auto iron on the engine. It is a pretty straight forward process and the two biggest pains will be removing the auto trans and installing the clutch/brake pedal assemblies.

All you have to do is wire the inhibitor wires together in the auto harness and the car will start. They are the two large wires inside the transmission pigtail.

Hmmm mine went:

Good Manual Transmission $150 ish. Good deal.
New ACT Clutch Kit (Xtreme PP / SS Disc) and Streetlite flywheel: $800
New Starter: $100
New Clutch Master: $90
New Clutch Slave: $60
Clutch Hard Lines and Brackets: $40
Pedals: $200
Stainless Soft Clutch Line: $20
Short Shifter and ****: $150
Rubber Boot Set: $100
Leather Boot Set: $20
4:10 Rear: $300
Driveshaft: $50
Synthetic Oil: $60

While I was in there I added R1 lines and converted my auto transmission cooler to a second oil cooler.

I would just get a stock replacement. I don't think you really need a better clutch.
