Tranny fluid ???? WHY SO often ?

Here is my problem:
My tranny fluid lasts about 1000 miles and then it goes to *****.... After 1000 miles the syncros HOWL! Then I change the fluid and it sounds and feel AWESOME!!

Why does it die so often ?

BTW. I use redline mt90....

Maybe there is a problem with your tranny and the redline is only serving to hide/mask the issue..

Where's the fluid located at? How do you change it yourself?

Its in the gearbox.. Basically I put the car on the lift, Push it up... Then drain both chambers... Put the plugs back in.. Fill it up.. Drive it...

And Johnny is probably right... I may have something bigger.... DAMNIT

I have the same problem. I changed out my tranny fluid and at first the shifts were extremely smooth...it was great! But after about 500mi its like i hadnt changed it at all. I hope it isnt too serious either.

are you sure you are filling it up using the right hole? the one on the top is to check the level, use the bottom one to fill it up. it can be confusing with 2 holes there.

Yeah, the last time I put it in the wrong hole, my girlfriend wouldn't talk to me for a week.

Tranny Fluid

If you like redline MTL try NEO Gear Oil it's a step up. Smoother shifts and quieter tranny. It cost more but worth it. Check out bakerprecision.com for pricing.

I have about 6k miles on some Redline Shockproof and now it feels like I never changed it. It did good for a while but now I'm going with NEO.

I hate to be a ball buster, but be careful of the information u give out. The lower one is the drain hole, the upper one is the level check AND fill access. I'm pretty sure if anyone attempts to fill the diff using the bottom hole, they are going to wind up with a pretty big mess.
