Is there a difference in type of oil used in the 95 Transmission vs the 93?
I did a search and the only thing I could find was a bunch of threads with people arguing about what brand of oil to use.
The reason I ask is I put a 95 Transmission in my car and used Mobil 1 75w-90 that the 93 FSM calls for in it. It ran fine for about 3000 mi, Now the trans will grind a lot going in to 5th and wont go in to first unless the car is stopped or I double clutch. Also if I take the car out and drive it hard then let it sit for a while the trans will not go in to any gear, if I hold the clutch in and try different gears eventually it will pop in to gear, after that it will work fine. car has 80,000 miles trans is supposed to have 30,000.
Any way if some one has a 95 FSM and doesn’t mind looking it up I would appreciate it (I cant find one online for some reason)
Btw this is a 95% stock street car, and I don’t think the mods that it does have add much if any power.
Thanks to anyone who takes the time to read and respond.

Mobil1 75w-90 is specifically not for synchromesh transmissions. It's basically for axles only. The additive package is not suitable for brass synchros.
I suggest Redline MT-90.

I have a feeling you put GL-5 oil in it. Transmissions need GL-4 and GL-5 does NOT work well. It may work fine at first but after a while it'll shift like crap.
I've had good results with royal purple.
Syncromesh fluid is really too thin to be using except in a problem trans. It can't protect the gears as well as a proper weight fluid.

spacemanmort also let me drive his car and i too notice the slop in the shifting. i noticed when i drove it ,that only the 5th gear was hard to get into gear and would grind for a sec then go in which i didnt like to do to his car. sorry bro =(
funny though. to me it felt as if the clutch didnt fully disengauge when shifting to 5th in normal driving or hard driving. but if that was true on a bad clutch then it would shift like crap in all gears.
i didnt really notice the hard to shift into 1st there dave ? or did i over look that?
someone mentioned copper synchros (sink rows) not sure on spelling. are these a normal item to wear out on 3rd gens and if so is there a recall of some sort. or maybe a upgrade to change those out for some more stronger synchros??

Synchros can wear out, can affect whether a gear will grind, but are not the only item responsible. There are no recalls on them, however Mazda updated the 2nd and 5th synchro since 95. 5th is made of a stronger material and I recommend installing it. I installed the updated 2nd synchro and didn't see any difference.
That said, I wouldn't rush into tearing down your tranny to install new bearings and synchros. It's expensive and in many cases it will only partly solve your shifting / grinding problem. Gears grinding is not usually the sound of synchros getting chewed, it's the actual steel dog teeth on the gear and shift ring that are being ground up. Those are much more expensive and just as responsible for good smooth shifts. If your tranny has well ground dog teeth it's easier and much cheaper to source a lower mileage tranny that shifts well.

most likly we are going to go change the fluid out first and see if that will cure the problem. royal purple is what i used on my FC turbo never had a problem since. =)
