Tach Problems.....tired new cluster

I think it might be the wiring harness..... how much do they go for......anyone.

I bought another cluster that I was told works fine......I hooked it up and tried it but it seems to be doing almost the same thing as the old one.,.......So I think I might need the wiring harness. Where does the tach get the reading from the engine......can it be coming from there?
