Synthetic vs. Mineral Oil
Everyone chatter back and forth about Synthetic vs. Mineral oil in a rotary. I personally am a fan of Castrol GTX mineral oil. The question I have is this:
With as few parts that a rotary engine has compared to it's piston counterpart and the fact that oil is injected into the combustion chamber to help cooling efforts, WHO in the hell thought that it would be "COOL" to run synthetic oil, and for what purpose? I could see if it was a piston engine that had valves, rocker arms, a cam or 4, and some damn connecting rods. But in a rotary, it just doesn't make sense, not witholding the fact that synthetic oil is generally more expensive and rotaries burn oil. And at one point Mazda had stated that the use of synthetic oil in the rotary would void any factory warranty. Also, it has been noted that synthetic oil leaves an ash residue that could potentially destroy the apex seal as it sweeps along the housing

Who cares if it's "cool" to run synthetic. If you don't want to run it then don't. This is a topic that has been covered a zillion and one times so a search would be good.
