Stupid me

Im such a dumbass. I went to the track the other day and blew my engine. It was rebuilt 10000 miles ago! I have an rx6 single and was boositing 15psi. Should of used race gas. The exhaust gasses got to hot and warped one of the seals in the front rotor. I noticed that my engine wasnt running well so I had the compression checked. Sure enough low compression in the front rotor. I live in tulsa and the closest places to rebuild are in texas. Looks like Im gonna be broke now

Man that sucks, did one of the Apex seals warp, or was it an oil seal or coolant seal? Good luck man.

On a completely unrelated note, how were the1/4 miles times with the rx6?

If your engine was running that hot, racing gas wouldn't have saved you. What kind of fuel system are you using and what are you using to control it? The fuel computer should have been tuned to provide sufficient fuel to prevent leaning out and running hot. If you do not have sufficient fuel supply then you're right.

Well I dont know, my guess is that it is one of the apex seals. I have a PFC and Im running pretty rich so I dont think it was my fuel.

My best was a 12.5. The engine wasnt very hot, only about 88c. One of my peak hold gauges shows the exhaust temp and it went off during my run so I let off, and when I checked it afterwards it got pretty high.

What injectors are you running? was the pfc wide band tuned? 15 psi on RX6 should not have popped with sufficient fuel. If you apex seals did go, it's possible your turbo may be gone as well. (broken seals going through the turbine blades)

550 primaries and 1300 secondaries. Yea it was tuned. The turbo seems to be Ok. Basically the only thing I notice is a shitty idle and it runs pretty rough.

What you may have is a warpped rotor housing which will show low compression numbers.
What seems strange is why the over heating occurs when you have enough fuel. You may want to have a serious look at you cooling system.

Bubbles forming in the coolant can cuase(sp) false readings... Don't know if that is what you are getting, but im *jusayin*, heh. Were the housings checked for warpage @ rebuild time? You could have already had a bad one and the track runs pushed it over the edge -coolant leak-bubbles-low coolant-overheat.

There's also probably a load of other things it could probably be, I think, but you are on single so it really cuts into some of them, heh.

Sorry to hear.

First you say it's running pretty rich and then you say it's tuned. Who did the tuning?

I apologize if I'm wrong, but your story sounds pretty fishy to me. You give a bunch of common mods and the common bad apex seal symptoms but no details. Sorry if I'm wrong, but with all the poseurs on here lately, it's hard to take posts like this seriously.....

If you're legit, sorry about motor....

What was going through your mind when you bolted up a rx6 with a stock IC?

Mzm in austin built the car, it is running rich just for safety. I guess you could say its tuned, but not fully tuned. I have the m2 large smic. No emmisions and Im using a power fc. Bunch of little stuff too: HKS twinpower etc..

Hey Ryn, I can vouge for Ben...he's no poser...He lives about 4 miles from me and bought his car all done up single turbo style. He entered the FD Arena without much knowledge but is learning rapidly....I guess a rx7.com rebuild will do that to ya

Here's his bay (after rx7.com got done with it)...More photos of his car and mine in my sig
