you dont have to have a new ecu for a streetport, if that one of your only mods. IM running it that way now but not for long cause i dont wantt to risk it!! But it can be done.

I get 15, real close to 16 inches of Mercury. And that's on a motor with 102,250 miles, and 63 track days!!!!

Smog?

Hey, did you know it will never pass CA smog with a steet port? With a decent streetport you can get about 25-40 hp more than without. A street port is great for realiable operation around 320 rwhp range with stock turbos. Nice thing is porting will pass a roadside visual so if you can get a "smog check"

It would have to be one impressive port job to make 100hp more with out a bunch of other parts too.

Artguy's post was great.

It depends so much on the type of porting you're getting (smog compliant, low end power loss, etc).

You can do the mild street port (as explained in the link or http://rotaryengineillustrated.com/R...-ports101.html ) which will help the flow by smoothing the rough spots (NOT mirror finish or you'll have poor fuel mixture) and helping the flow with tapered edges.

Another port (extended) can alter the timing of the intake stroke. You can start it earlier, extending the port lower, or lengthen the intake stroke, extending the port higher. You want to be careful moving the port out into the oil seal groove and corner seal groove.

If you have a big extended streetport, it'll be hard to pass emissions unless you have a heavy duty air pump (ie. corvette electric air pump). I'm not sure what CA law is on using other vendor's emissions equipment.

I'll have pictures of my current streetport project that BDC is doing. We've talked extensively on what gains can be made without sacrificing too much driveability. I'm not making a drag car, but I like to roadrace it and drive it around town.

Phew!! I stirred somethin up here. He told me that he has 20 psi in his car. I don't know what he did to his turbos to do that or if he is fibbing. Maybe he did change the guts of his turbos. I haven't even seen his car. I know he doesn't favor single turbo conversions though, since they have one in the shop that has been drivin only 400km in the last 3 years. That sucks pouch... that efficiency thing is good to know however. Learn more every day........
