Straight coolant. ok for a little while?

I was in the middle of changein my coolant out so I can fill it with my evans NPG. I just finished filling it up with straight coolant, then I ran out of time and I won't have time to drain it out and fill it up with the NPG for a few days (stupid finials ).

Will it be ok to drive it around for a day or two with only coolant? or shouldnI let it sit until I get time to drain it and put the NPG in?

Thanks for any help.

i would put water in it for sure.. I wouldnt drive it.
ROTARIES like water more then coolant. You can
run just straight water easier then just straight
coolant. It will get hot fast!!

I wouldn't recommend driving with jusy coolant. Maybe you can drain some out and mix in some water.

well, draining out coolant and puttin in water would essentailly undo all that I did today, I would ahve to drain it, and put in straight coolant again, before I can in my NPG.

will it be ok to jsut drive it to work and home again? I live very close to work. only takes me about 1-2 minutes to drive there.

If thats a no no, I can just let it sit for a little while.

Driving an FD for 1 min to work and back is a bad idea anyway.

If it only takes a few minutes of driving I wouldn't worry too much. Just keep an eye on your temp gauge. I have straight coolant and drive it easy a couple of miles before I put in the NPG. I think you have to drive it 10-20 miles or so ( not all at one time) to allow the coolant to absorb the remaining water in the system.

An FD should be run for longer than that in order for it to warm up and cool down properly. Starting it, driving it for a minute or two, then shutting it down is hard on the engine.

oh, I never just start it and drive it. I start it and let it idle in my garage for about 3-5 minutes to warm up, then I let it idle for a minute with the fans on after I park it at work.

I do the same thing. It's about 6 minutes of idle for about two minutes of driving pleasure. sometimes I wish I had a longer commute.
I do not think that strait sierra will hurt you if you drive easy for a short distance. But watch that temp guage. Just don't boost or rev high.

Thanks for the help guys.

I was wondering though. why would I run hotter if its only coolant? Isn't anti freeze added to lower he freezing point AND raise the boiling point?

Well, water supposedly has a higher heat transfer rate, so it will dissipate the heat quicker in turn helping to keep the overall temperatures lower.

However, running 100% anti-freeze shouldn't be a problem. I doubt you'll see much of a temp difference unless you run the car HARD (like tracking it or something).

Rotaries hate to idle...they idle very rich and it only helps to infuse gas into the oiling system, promotes carbon buildup, etc... You should start your car up and drive off as soon as it starts to idle smoothly.

Ive had kind of the same situation as you. I flushed all of my coolant out and then filled with straight Sierra. I havent had a chance to buy the Evans yet(thanks for the reminder) and have been running the Sierra for a good month. I havent overheated yet but now that summer is approaching the temp seems to rise faster and Im getting kind of nervous about it. Just try to stay out of traffic.
