CA storing crate engine

I have a brand new completely unopened 13b-rew from 9 months ago. I have not opened the box or opened the plastic that it is sitting in. I probably can't get to my project anytime soon, is there anything I should do to make sure the motor stays fresh while in storage? It's in a dry garage in a mild climate.

I think those engines are packed with oil and stuff so it's good for a VERY long time.

If it's going to be more than a year, I would do the following -

- Spray WD-40 or fogging oil into the ports
- Turn the engine over a few times by hand
- Put a dessicant pack or something that absorbs and contains moisture in the bag with the engine (there may already be something)
- Seal the bag back up

If it's really long term I'd maybe do that every year.

Had one of the guys here @Snipe G who had an engine built by Mazdatrix around 2000 and we installed and got it running in 2020 or so. He did the above and that engine was perfect, no issues at all.

In the past Mada left some coolant in the engine which caused rusting.
I would flush the cooling system with pure antifreeze.

I feel like these could be a decent investment, hard to say how long Mazda will produce them...

Definitely a long game, but I've wanted to buy up a couple and store them away. Coolant passage flush, fogging oil and a desiccant pack should keep it healthy for quite some time.

LOL!

Definitely did not expect the price increase, should have listened to my gut and bought a few.
