Stock safe boost

I have done a lot of searching and found so many different answers I am confused.

I have a dp and cb and I just did the home depot boost controler. Is it safe to turn up the boost past stock the way my car is set up?

I heard the stock ecu has a fuel cut off but everyone had I different answer when that was. When is the fuel cut off?

Some said all you need is a better intercooler. Is this true?

Please help.

Hmm... adding an intercooler will just make you run more lean. Stock ECU is from what I heard/read good for only like 1psi more. More then that and you need an upgraded fuel computer. Until you can afford one, you run the car with a boost controller and not letting the pressure go over 10 or 11psi (so basically you won't ba making more top end power with your mods, but your torque will improve in the midrange as the turbos will spool up sooner).

this is one of my question that I'm looking for answer as well, I keep hearing that increasing boost would require an aftermarket ECU. now, what would this ECU be doing to this increase of boost? is it just a different air/fuel mixture? and besides changing the ECU, what else would be needed to change? fuel pump?

with the home depot(or any manual boost controller) you will have the ability to adjust the boost pressure that actuates the wastegate...bu this also causes a tendancy to make the pressure spike...especially at transition...so be sure that this doesnt happen and set it to ten psi....i also reccomend removing the restrictor pill from the wastegate line aswell for added insurance...and as for the ecu...this will allow the car to achieve a higher boost level safely as it will provide richer fuel mixtures at higher boostlevels...but you may find that the stock injectors will be at their max use in this scenario...so be careful....this is all best done under the watchful eye of a wideband on a dyno....and as for the stock fuel cutoff?.....well...its 10.7psi at 6500rpm...and higher at lower rpm...but 10.7 where it counts.....youll know if you hit it!..lol....

so with a Electronic Boost Controller and a stock ECU, what's the higest safe boost to set at?

im running 12psi off the stock ecu and had it up to 15psi at times. i got the boost cut at 17 psi off the stock ecu

safest boost level is 10, maybe 11. everyone will tell you that. the thing most people argue over is the three mod rule on when to upgrade the ecu. as long as you keep the boost at 10 lbs, you can run an intake, dp, cb. i would just think about getting an aftermarket ecu. a cheap way to save your motor is to buy a used ecu like the pettit or m2.

good luck running that high of boost w/o an aftermarket ecu for a long time. soon your motor is going to blow.

Fuel-cut requires a sustained boost, it will not cut-off with spikes.

It is only safe to run 10.X psi with the stock ecu. Large spikes will kill your motor.
