Question Stock Gen 3 Turbocharger Question?????

I was wondering what the turbo designation was (ex. Garrett T-3) for the stock twin turbo's of the gen 3? Is it possible to buy one with no shaft play (seals dont matter when it comes to condition)? If so, how much would they run? Thanks for the help.

Someone has to now what type of turbo they use on the 3rd gen RX7. Are they reliable in the spectrum of turbos?

Not sure what you're asking but the 3rd gen turbos are Hitachi HT-12 that are setup sequentially. As far as shaft play, you'd have to find a low mileage set and even then they could be trashed. Best bet is get a used set off of thepartstrader.com for like $200 (doesn't matter the condition) and get a rebuild - www.bnrsupercars.com I know does good work.

I just need one of the two turbos. It is for a custom project, we need a small reliable turbo. Can you get these turbos single and how reliable are they?

Does anyone have any ideas on a small turbo that is good for a custom project? Preferable used. Off of a car instead off of the shelf is also something we are looking for. Thanks.

If you are looking for a small turbo, the little T3 Garrett turbos off the late 80's turbo Chrysler's are pretty good.. maybe even a stock 1st Gen Eclipse turbo.

get a 2nd gen rx-7 turbo. you can have it upgraded and whatever. a lot of people run around 325 rwhp with these upgraded singles. as a matter of fact i have one for sale. 325.00 shipped. hehe. it has minimal shaft play. very nice. it is the stock turbo off of an 89-91 tII that has been upgraded with a t4 comp wheel. very nice.

There's a nice small turbo selection chart and the end of this write up that should be able to help you - http://www.dune-buggy.com/turbo/turbo.htm
