Still Flooding

Hello,

I have recently been having trouble with my RX 7 flooding and I was advised to check with Dave at KD rotary. I spoke with him via e-mail, below is our coversation.

Hello,

My dad recently bought a 1993 Mazda Rx7 with twin turbos. He has had nothing but bad luck with this car. Shortly after he bought it he began having trouble with it. After having the car looked at by 2 dealerships that agreeed the motor was bad(low compression tests) he put a new motor in it and it's still not running right. When he first starts it cold it's fine but after it runs for awhile it starts flooding out. Every time after he's shut the car off and checks the plugs they are always wet. They have cleaned the injectors and checked the fuel filter and everything checks out ok. Is there somthing they are over looking? If you could shed any light on this for him it would be very much appreciated. I was referred to you through a message board on the net and they said to drop you a line. My e-mail is tazzie@clover.net, Again any input would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you,

Bill
Hey Bill...the first thing to look at is the frt cat..it is probably clogged and not allowing the engine to breath...causing it to flood...the second issue ius the map sensor and the water tempo sensor...these two sensors are all the ecu uses to do a base fuel map...if one of these is wacked the car may flood...but the very first thing I would look at is the frt cat...right off of the turbo as if it is clogged it will give very low compression...and the car will flood out very fast after startup...one easy way to tell is get it running...at cold fast idle you should feel a very strong flow out the muffler...if not..if it feels very weak then the frt cat is clogged...or worse case the rear cat....hope this helps..holler if any questions...dave@KDR

We did what he suggested and we are still having the same problem, but I'm certain we are on the right track. I will keep you all posted as to further developments.
I know there was some having the same problem with their RX-7 and I hope this may help them as well. Again I appreciate all the input from those of you here on this board you have really been a great help, as is Dave at KD Rotary. I will keep you all posted as to further developments. Thanks again!

Bill
