Spot a 93 RX7 Turbo

in the car dealer someone just traded in like yesterday

anyway

i am currently driving a 2000 celica gt-s 6 spd right now

the trade in value is pretty much match the price of 93 RX7 TT's Value

i am thinking about trading in...

but is there anything i should be looking at before i purchase the car? engine problem? oil leaks? etc?

that car has a lot of oil leak under the engine..

is it going to be worth it? i had a lot of mods on my celica...

i am trading in a newer car for a 10 years old car.. i don't know..

so i am asking you guys.. is it going to be worth it?

I have both a TT RX7 and a 2001 Celica TSport (192PS).
The RX7 is definetely (in my view) in every way a superior car apart from everyday usability and reliability.
I think this is what you should consider when doing the swap
Oil leak could be a common problem with the oil pan, but could point to more serious problems, i.e. Turbo's etc.
Before buying be sure to have a compression test, check the Turbos' for leaks and also check for O ring problems

My sister has an 00 gts 6-speed. Fun car, but nothing campared to my fd. Just don't expect Toyota reliability in the rx-7.

if both cars were in propper working condition the fd will outmatch the celica in every catagory except for fuel economy... however the oil leak on the fd worries me... also u should check the milage... and test drive the car... hopefully there is a boost gauge because u want to make sure that u are getting the right boost pattern...

as stated there are many threads on how to buy a used fd... also check out this site...

www.scuderiaciriani.com/rx7

it is a great fd recource

i actually i put the deposit down for the car.. and took it to the Rotary Specialist.. the clutch ran out.. the compression was barely above 100 psi the second turbo didn't kick in..

so does my engine need to rebulit?
and turbo need to rebulit?

I think you should ask the "Rotary Specialist" those questions. I don't think 100 psi is a valid compression number.

Lots of things can cause the secondary turbo to not kick in. Could be as simple as vac hoses or solinoids, or the turbo could be fubar.
