some smoke at 9k

Anyone know if it is normal to get some smoke out the back hitting 8,1/2 9 k? I don't do this regularly but i was side a 05' viper n wanted to at least get him through 3rd i am pretty much stock full non-seq full exhaust, all emissions gone. only running 6lbs (don't know why but not concerned, more likeley a boost leak) everything else stock have no idea how many miles on motor it always starts fine even after beating the hell out of it. Good compression mid to lo 90's running rich as hell could it just be unburned fuel?

yeah u do know there is a redline for a reason. u shouldn't ever run it past that unless u have the mods to do so namely porting, custom intake manifold and built internals the stock rotating assemly is balanced to 10k but u don't gain any power past 7500 u acctually loose about 30hp between 7500 and 8500

you shouldnt be pushing 9 all the time buts its a rotary and its fine.

Its probably smoke from running rich. 6psi with a map tuned for 10psi is going to smoke black.

Running up to 8.5+ will be out of the engines powerband, however when you upshift, it definitely helps get you into the heart of the next gear.

At that boost level I wouldn't be racing a viper, and you definitely aren't making power past 8k rpms, you're better off shifting into 4th.

If he's racing a Viper with that set up he'd be better going in the opposite direction...

I could never get a viper to race me... I thought they were either scared or all stuck up!
