Minor Coolant Leak?

So I took my 7 to Wal-Mart today to get some groceries... as I was coming back to the ride, I noticed some liquid under the car. I was like, it better not be coolant. Of course it was.

I poped the hood and looks like roughly 2 quarts of coolant overflowed from the overflow tank. It's funny... the car never got hot, I'm usually very nervous about the car getting hot so I watch my temp gauge religiously. I was around 200F when I parked the ride.

I looked around the engine bay and everything checked out okay... So I drove home. 10 miles later everything was still fine...

So has this happened to anyone? or does anyone know what the EF happened?

The overflow tank has a vent hole in the tubing. If the coolant overflows too much into the tank, the excess is expelled out onto the ground. Have you recently added any coolant into the car?

I flushed the coolant late last year before I stored it for the winter. I've been driving it since May and have not had any problems.

I have noticed elevated "bubbling" sound when I shut down. Which I believe is air in the coolant. Could that have contributed to the overfill overflowing?

Yes, it's possible. When was the last time you replaced your coolant caps? I would start there if it has been a while or you have never replacement them with your ownership of the car.

As far as I know, it has never been replaced. I'll check it out a little closer. Should I replace the radiator cap as well as the air separation tank cap? or would just the radiator cap do the magic?

Replace both if you have not replaced them yourself.
