Solenoids / Check valves....?

how do you go about checking the solenoids / check valves to see if they are working properly without taking off the UIM?? I've heard of a method like grounding some pins or something? Anyone have a how-to on this, or good detail on it? Thanks.

This connector is from ecu and you can ground the pins with a cable from negative pole to each pin.
