Solenoid Replacement

I am curious if anyone has gone looking for a solenoid replacement (yes there are hundreds of used ones out there)? To my knowledge pretty much all the solenoids under the hood can be replaced by a 3 way solenoid and I was wondering if this http://cgi.ebay.com/1-4-Electric-Sol...#ht_2380wt_905 could be used as a replacement?

Yeah, it could, but you'd have one huge *** contraption if you get enough of those to run what you need to run.

The stock solenoids aren't sexy, but they do last a VERY long time. I still haven't seen any replacements that are better than the stockers.

Don't buy that because the internal vent orifice is very tiny and restrictive. A restrictive orifice vents to slow (which you don't want). A great alternative is the 3 way solenoids that go on the latest generation V6 Honda Accords. The solenoid valves control the vacuum to the front engine mounts to make them more or less stiff during cylinder deactivation. The solenoids are about $20.00 each. I have personally pressure tested them to 25psi before they started leaking. They are the same size as the Fd units. The only thing is, you will have find connectors for them.

Sorry don't have a clue as I got it 2 years ago. The best thing I could do is take a pic of the one I have.

Yep that's the one.

Here's a few pics of mine compared to the stock unit.

BTW, $9 for the Honda solenoid - DAMN that's cheap!

I just bought an '02 Odyssey for a daily driver and it has that same goofy solenoid/motor mount thing. I'll have to steal the van's solenoid to play with it .

I'll see if I can get a pic of the connector on my van in the next few days.

This would totally be for a custom setup, these would be a bear to try and plumb in the stock rat's nest.

Might look up a company called Chiba Metal Company. That terminal & many like them sat on my desk more times than 100 over 12 years.

The only thing I see a problem with this is the connector is vertical entry vs the stockers side entry.
