Socket size for oil pressure sender?

My oil pressure sender has gone bad. Trying to remove the old one and need to know the socket size to remove the unit? I tried a 27mm socket no dice. Anyone know the exact size so I can purchase the correct size socket.

Thanks

You actually remove it with the "stem" of the sender, not the head. I think it's just 17mm or 19mm, something pretty common.

Yup. I am also pretty sure I used a 17mm wrench.. It is slow going but pretty easy..

I saw the stem hex, I attempted to get on it with a open-ended wrench, but couldn't get the proper angle due to the hoses in my way. I will give it another shot.

You have probably done this, if so just ignore my suggestion. Have you tried cleaning the sender contact and the connector contactor? My gauge would sometimes work and sometimes it wouldn't. Cleaning the contacts helped.

It helped when cleaning the contacts, but still seems inconsistent. Did you end up getting a new sender?

I haven't yet. Most of the time my gauge seemed to be reading low or not reading at all at idle or lower RPMs. I tried cleaning the contacts once and that helped a little. I cleaned them again and it is reading much better. But it hasn't been too long so I will keep an eye on it. Biggest problem is cleaning the contact in the connector. My wire isn't very long and it is a PITA to clean it. So I don't think I have done a very good job.
