My max mph is i120 and I did it last night.

I had fun with a little civic last night. I have boost problems (over boost) and was driving last night at about 3 am. I saw a civic on the side of me and it took off, I followed and keep up with it to about 120mph. i was only using 30% throttle and about .3bar boost in 4th gear. needless to say I could have easily went much faster if I had floored it or up shifted to 5th. Anyways the civic hit his hazzards and i guess he though he just smoked a FD oh well, at least i made him think he had a fast car. He was reving the hell out of his car though and it was intresting to hear a civic rev that high.

P.S. Im running a straight pipe exaust, gredddy intercooler (not the front mount one but the smaller one), a true cold air intake as well as a bunch of other goodies. He would had no chance if I had taken it up to 40 or 50% throttle.

I wonder how fast i will go if I ever get it to 100% throttle.

 

I hit 150 in 5th with plenty left playing around with a Red Z06 Vette. Prolly would've gone faster but the ZO6 gave up I know he had much more...but I guess he was scared to hit it. That's only the second time I've gotten up above the 140 mark. After seeing those Ferrari Crash pics. posted a while back I won't be going that fast (top end) anytime soon

You're talking about a stock motor and ratios mind you. I'll tell you what, I'm not trying to BS anyone, I see the facts here in front of me, but I'll make a video, or at least take a bunch of pics and post them. (this is assuming I can find the space to do it in the next week or so, if anything, I'll post some of my car on the dyno, and I'll max it out in 4th.) Work for you guys?

now with mods and rollcage just waiting for 5pt harness,and new shocks
i will be taking her out to open her up.

 

I hate to say this but dan Please do not try to do that again on public streats I would prefer to just leave it alone then have you go out and kill some one and your self or even alot of people just to prove us wrong.

Driving at those kinds of speeds is Dangerous and completly ignorent stupid and did i mention ******* DANGEROUS????????

Well a month after i bought my 7 i was messing around on the freeway with some friends. At that time i only had Eibach springs, HKS exhaust and filter. I was at 140 when i hit a turn then the rest is kinda blurry.

From what my friends told me my rear kicked out and i spun out 4 times. All i remember was tail lights, headlights, tail lights, headlights. tail lights, headlight.......

Then i hit the wall going backward but at a very shallow angle so i remember sparks near my left shoulder...when the wall ended i hit the embankment went up and shatted my steering mechanisim on the curb as i assended the hill.

My GF at the time was riding in her brothers car behind me (thank god). The first thing she does after i crash is run up to me and sock me in the jaw and tell me not to ever scare her like that again....ahah

HERE'S THE KICKER...NO FRAME DAMAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

had to replace the front bumper, rear bumper, door, front fender, rear fender, driver side control arm, steering assembly....damn estimate was 3 pages long.

Moral of the story....after owning a front wheel drive no power car and then buying a 7 be prepared for true power and stupid driving. Damn that was like 4 years ago......what a moron.

 

Jeez, I don't know. The speedo only goes up to 180 I just stayed on the throttle till I felt lift off...

 

Lol..oh yeah, I'll just head on to the interstate and punch it. Yeah, right. I'd most likely close an entire section of highway down to do it. But, I'll most likely just do it on the dyno. It's freezing at night here and hitting some ice at 170 can be a little, well, duh.

duh...any car can hit 170 on a dyno. are you trying to show off your gear ratios or somethin?? it doesnt take power to go fast on a dyno.

 

On Christmas eve I did 40 in a 25 zone. How do I know? The cop with the Radar Gun told me. Even gave me a certificate of proof!
I was in third gear with a tail wind.

Theoretically, you couldn't do **** with a geo metro.

JoeD: You doubted that his gear ratios would put him at 170 in 4th gear, and yet know you are giving him **** for wanting to prove his ratio for you? WTF is with that? A gear ratio is a gear ratio. On the street, on the dyno, it doesn't matter.

Anyways. So I'm probably the only person here that has video of one of my top speed runs. Nothing special, it's just a stock FD.. But around 153 or so before I let off.

 

dyno mph does not have wind resistance factored in, tire/road surface drag, etc. but interesting thread esp. top end estimations. noted FD gearbox is overdrive for 5th. is one-to-one on my car (not an FD). was the racing beat FD that flipped using stock ratios?

 

Well, sorry to burst your bubble if you gear the metro right you could get the tires spinning at 300mph with out any kindof drag/resistance. Thats the same thing on a dyno allthough they do put a load on the car but still its not the same as being on the street. So please don't give me that line of bullshit I know more then you think.

 

i wasn't giving him ****. i just said that the only thing he'll prove on a dyno are his gear ratios.

now who would get gears that kill low end acceleration, but give you top speed?

My friend who owns a 1989 Supra Turbo called me the other day and said he beat a 00 vett in top speed I told him 1. the owner of the vett was smart he didn't try to kill him self. and 2. you are a dumb mother ****** for racing him and going over 160mph and also thinking that you could beat a vette at top speed.

I prefer to get to 100 everything after that doesn't realy matter well well yeah probably 120ish for track =] ......... not like any of us gonna see 170mph in a track race or even a gosh darn street race..

 

I am not sure about this.
At Summit Point, I was hitting close to 150 at the end of the straightway. I am sure the single turbo guys were/are reaching 160 plus.

So 170 is not out of the question.

Although I do not condone or encourage top speed runs or street racing (and I am guilty of it myself), one of the reasons why I bought an RX-7 is to drive REALLY FAST. Over 170 MPH is not unlikely or unreasonable, nor unsafe on a racetrack.
