Smoking....I know....(not again)
Please help...I am quite new to rotary and I do really love it, but I have a MAJOR smoking problem from exhaust. I've read about apex seals and so forth, but my problem is that my huge thick plumes of smoke are white/slight blue tint(sometimes) and they smell so rich it burns your eyes and you really choke if you inhale it. This is what happens....I get smoke when first starting up (cold), this, as far as I can read is quite normal....smoke then goes away, but if I hold the RPM's steady at say 4K after about four or five seconds of this she blows out smoke so thick you can't see through it (kinda like an ATF treatment, which I've done already). And when I drive it, she smokes the same way upon deceleration or when I let off the gas. If I romp on her the smoke clears and all is well. My oil filler neck is vented and I have no PCV system. It's a 13B (94') with a Holley DP and 6 Port Intake (Fuel Pressure is at 6). The car is an 85' (12A swap). My mechanical knowledge tells me that white smoke is either unburned fuel (rich condition) or coolant leak into motor. please help me, before I tear this thing down for an expensive rebuild! Thanks

Do a block leakage test. You can pick up the kit at any napa, cost around$50.00, that will
verify if there is any combustion in the coolant. Or you can take it to a qualified technician and let them perform the test. If it comes back negative, then go after fuel. rx7doctor. There
is a product called blue devil that works on cracked heads/head gaskets, which yes i know we dont have. But they gurantee to fix any leak period or your money back, never seen it used on rotaries, could get their ph# for you if interested. That is if you have a coolant leak
in the motor. rx7doctor

Possibly oil. Have you checked the oil level lately? If not, I would check that. I haven't completely figured this out yet, but from what I understand, rotary engines are made to burn some oil. Perhaps this is where the oil metering pump comes in?
I think this is how it goes with smoke colors:
Gotta go, I'll finish this when I get home.

Found Problem...Now for the BIGGIE!!!
Found out it is coolant leaking into the engine (Thanks rx7doctor!)....Now for the bigger question....I do not have any idea, really, what engine is in my car....I got a good look all over the block and cannot find any type of serial numbers, stamps, tags or NOTHING...except 13B. Now, there has got to be a way of identifying these engines!!! Anyone know How?...or is there a marking somewhere, etc..etc..Plus, what gasket set do I buy(for what year)? There is a huge price difference in years...are the engines really that friggin' different? I supposedly have a (94) motor...but I thought they were FI and Turbo'd? If so....I have Carb and no Turbo...WTF!!!! Please someone help me!!!

Sorry to hear about your car man. Do you have any pictures? It sounds like you have a n/a FC engine. I don't know if it is an s4 or s5, but i'm sure it is no 94 (FD) engine. Good luck.

I think I found it!!!.....I hope...Right under the alternator, under much paint and dirt is a very, very light engraving the looks like it has a letter (which I can't make out) and the numbers 35727.....????? Is this the engine number and is their any type of cross reference to tell me the year?
