Question smoke...

ah yes i went to england and decided my car needed to be driven after its 8 day rest, even though i asked my roomates to start it up one or twice while i was gone.

I noticed at teh light that my car was smoking, so i pull over and pop the hood to see whats up. The car backfired once or twice but not very loud in the first 10 minutes i was driving it. When i looked to see under the hood I noticed that a little puff of white smoke emerged once like every 7-10 seconds and it was coming from around the intake/turbo area. Well I drove it the little extra way to I-hop and shut it down, went in and ate. Drove back, and had no misfires nor any smoke, and the whole time she was running fine.

Im curious/ scared as to what this could be or mean. Is it a warning sign, or is it already shot?

thanks in advance....

ha I know seriously, he loves my car. I don't care if he drives it since I drive his all the time. He said he drove it the supermarket which is really faster walking...thats how close it is. Im thinking he was boostin a little hard on the way there and back and shut it right off, and maybe i was burning some oil left over inside the turbos?

It's just a though, if it can happen or not i dont even know im just guessing. The car is still "new to me"

he prob started it up, prob "thought" he warmed it up good enough, boosted hard as hell from the house since there is not enough distance to do regular driving (from what you said), he prob wanted to see how fast your car is, and prob lost a seal somewhere..

not to mention turning it off, boosting more on the way home.. o god, i cant go any further..

go ask him

ghettostamps,

Dont worry... It's normal... Your roomate probably didn't let the car warm up long enough..
I had the same exact problem... The car was in the shop for a whole month... When I went and start it up, it was smoking bad as hell... And I could see white smoke from the turbo area as well.. (Note, this smoke from the turbos also happen when I change my turbos., but dissappear after continous driving...)
After like 30mins of driving the smoke was gone.... This happens like 3 to 4 months ago... The car still drives like a Beast....................... Sometimes...

The only fair thing is a prank that risks blowing his engine. Cause that's what he did or nearly did.

Oh, and for 8 days don't even bother starting the car up. Take all the keys with you. In the winter my car sits for a month at a time and AFAIK that's not the slightest issue.
