Never cared for either car but no question they are quick and allow novices to drive faster than they should
bajaman you're just an old perv....
well the guy also said he would sweeten the deal by throwing in his 95 daily driver integra....
(the guy just got a huge settlement and wants a fast sports car asap)
the car is a touring model.
i spent $19K 4 years on the car when it had right at 30K miles. i have invested probably $6K not including regular maintenance, so really i wouldnt lose any money on the project overall.
after searching all over autotrader, there is not another car that even interests me (maybe the supra, but its only good in straight lines IMO)....
i really dont have the time to spend on buying a shell and building it up, and im too attached to this model exactly the way it is(except the stock wheels), even though a killing could be made taking advantage of this guy and then just build a twin to what i already have.
so i guess what it comes down to now is if i have the patience to live without an rx7 for a couple years until i had more time to build an all-out project.

Yep, values are down, and that goes for almost everything FD related. I haven't sold anywhere near as many FD's as Fritz has, but I have sold around 25 over the years. I generally won't mess with "flipping" them anymore. You can still make money on them, but you basically have to work harder for less profit. It's gotten to the point where my time is worth more than I'm making. Nothing compares to the way they feel out on the road course though. I only wish I'd been able to get out on the track sooner than I did. All those years my FD lived in captivity... such a shame.
I'd take a C5 or C6 Z06 anyday. You can pick up the C5Z for $20K and the C6Z for $40k. They are much more comfortable to ride in than our cars, gets close to 30mpg on the highway, and you can take them to the track and a stock c5Z will walk all over the majority of the cars out there. A C6Z is in a league of their own, especially with a good driver.
Fritz, don't you worry, as soon as I win the lottery... that GT3 RS is coming your way. The only problem I have is they say you have to play to be able to win?

No, not really. I was considering C6Z and a few other cars a few months ago and found several $40k C6Z's that were in good condition with normal miles. The economy sucks. People who are in a financial pinch get desperate. I'm still fairly certain I'm going to end up with one before it's all said and done.

2008 c6 Zs with 10k miles are selling for 50k
NEW 2009 Zs are selling for 64k (17k off retail)
I'll probably own the new model m3 before a Z but DAMN it's so tempting.

1. The market for sports cars sucks right now
2. The reason why that Canadian dealership with the $40k automatic FD is probably going to keep that car for a while...
As for C6 Z06's:

Not a Z06, but helps demonstrate a few things:

OP,
Not sure what kind of condition and such but unless its in mint condition with good paint and super clean interior, I would sell it at $25.
Purerx7 - NSX?? Really??? I used to love those cars... but those of you who read my old post about my dealings with NSX owners, NO F**king way I would own one of those. Also, 92 NSX going for mid $30k thats not much better than stock FD is ridiculous!! And any NSX over year 2000 is going for 09 GT-R pricing. I hate to say this but I rather get a GT-R than 02+ NSX any day!
Back to FDs...
Only time its not worth selling it for what's asked of is when you start thinking about time you spent and if you could get something close to it later on in your life. Some rotorheads I've met who got rid of their FD years back regrets and gets another one just to start all over on their ritual. If you think you are not going to 'miss' the FD, than sell it and move on. To me, I've invested 10+ years on these cars and I just can't imagine getting rid of it to just to start all over on something else. I'll always have at least one in my garage and I'll never get rid of it.. If I were to buy something else, I'll make sure I'm able to buy it and still have one or two FD's in the garage.. My next car I'm eyeing is the GT-R. Maybe in 3 years?? We shall see.... Unless the rumored 2012 RX-7 is close match to the GT-R than I might pick one up.. But I highly doubt it at this point.

"Unless the rumored 2012 RX-7 is close match to the GT-R"
A. Mazda try's to reinvent the FD at all.
B. They put a twin turbocharger on it again.
But we shall see and crossing my fingers.
A Mazda that would compete at all with the GTR would be not be a volume seller which I'm sure it what Mazda is looking for. Even a car with twin turbos would probably be too expensive. I think it needs to be under 30k to be really successful and have some staying power.
