Look at the cars on autotrader and ebay that don't sell and look at the cars on this forum that do sell. 2 years ago I'd say that a nice FD would always be worth 12k now it's worth 9k. I watch the market like a day trader hehe.
I don't care how nice your modded higher mileage (over 40 or 50k) FD is it's not going to sell for over 25k unless it's like Wael's old CYM because there's just too much competition from superior performing cars that are more reliable, faster and easier to maintain with better gas mileage etc...etc... People who can drop 25k on an impractical sports car are capable of thinking outside the FD box
Take it from someone who's been buying and selling these cars for 10 years the values are DOWN!

I still love my FD to death and think it's a timeless beauty...just sayin'!!!
My ultimate goal is to build a track worthy FD stripped down to the basics, but still looks good.

There was recently a perfect exterior black/tan 70k mi. 94 touring near my way that only sold for 7500 on eBay and it had a few grand in bolt ons (all the PFS stuff....). Now THAT is a very low price that surprised me, a few years ago the same car would have been at least 12k

Well said coming from a veteran. I don't have to sell my car but I listed it at $25k anyways hoping to find the right person who would appreciate it. I've gotten lots of interest but obviously nothing materialized. I don't mind as I just took the car out on the track and loving it. People here are obviously more bias toward FD but if you think outside of the box, there are options that are equivalent or better than a RX-7.

1. It's old (it is)
2. It has maintenance attached to it (especially if you track it)
You can find cars which are newer that don't have as much maintenance attached to them, but they either don't perform as well, are fairly common on the road, or cost more. Some examples:
Lotus Elise
Corvette C5 (even some C6's are starting to be cheap these days)
Porsche 996
Porsche Cayman
BMW M3
BMW MCoupe
Solstice GXP
S2000
Sky Redline
and the list can go on. With all of those, you'll make have some trade-offs. Each person just needs to decide what trade-off works best for their use. There is no one size fits all when it comes to cars.

Two cars you forgot that are almost equal to the FD as far as the cost of speed:
STI
EVO
Plus when properly modded will dance around all those cars listed below and make it look easy
However boring to drive or ride in.

1. It's old (it is)
2. It has maintenance attached to it (especially if you track it)

I got my 94 FD for $30k just few weeks ago with spare parts, insurance etc. it was like $35k total but I'm happy cause I think I got a bargain. But then again I live in a place where petrol costs $10 per gallon and something like a new EVO costs $100k.
I once had a guy offer me a condo on the beach plus his boat along with sex with his wife just to DRIVE my FD...but I turned him down. The NERVE of the bastard.
I can't believe this thread has gone on this long.

sex with his wife,LoL...I know what you said is a joke but true story---->I had an old co worker tell me to bang his wife when we where drinking at the bar. I didnt know what to do or say at that moment! i told him that he was drinking too much and he needs to chill out, months later i come to find out that they where into group sex and they did it all they time,i was like WOW!! i was weirded out.

lol....yeah, **** like this DOES happen. A former co-worker had a wife that had to get all heated up by another guy before she'd bang her hubby. So they'd have these parties and she be ALL OVER this or that guy, and once she was ready she'd tell her husband to get rid of everyone.
Literally everyone had some story about 'Sally' coming on to them.
