^ ok, but which of your cars Mahjik gets more track time? ... the thing is, NO ONE pays $1500 for a stock oem cat! I have 2 in my garage now, 1 came with the car, the other I got used for a couple hundred bucks cuz it has the side tube still on it.

with the FD people can work on it easier and cheaper, or so it seems from being a member on this forum ... besides you.. how many other M3 guys do that? certainly not the 2 at my work or maybe they don't belong to a forum with lots of how tos? 1 guy I know doesn't, he sits next to me and all we do is talk about FD's and M3's in between getting our work done... I'm soooOOO glad my manager hired an Intern to help me out!! LOL.

Funniest thing ever, our 2 desks are where we have daily open stand up meetings (less than 15 mins) and the table in the middle is LITTERED with M3 mags and all my FD mags including the latest Jan issue of Modified Mag !!! LOL.. so we have a new rule now... no reading magazines during the standup meeting, haha. everyone at work knows how a rotary engine works... I even brought an old housing and rotor that has apex seal damage.

and when most of us go out to lunch, I love hearing people (mostly the girls in qa) argue about who's turn it is this week to ride with me, so I'm glad there is no rear seat for extra weight! lol. different strokes for different folks.

When the E46 M3 is as old as the US FD are today, those guys won't be paying for a new OE cats either. However, I wouldn't say "no one" as several members have bought Mazda OE cats recently (as in the last year or two) for emissions testing/passing in certain states (California is one).

As far as which car has more track time? In the past 3 years, the BMW because it runs!

Actually, the M3 is MUCH easier to work on than a stock RX7. However, if you remove 90% of the engine components like Rich, then the RX7 is pretty simple.

The main difference with newer cars is the added electronics which didn't exist back in the late 80's when the RX7 was being designed. The electronics can be pain, but that's not necessarily a M3 problem.

Given how many M3's there are out there today, don't let 2 owners taint what you think. That's no better than the people who don't own RX7's watching one person blow their FD engine in a month and calling the car crappy. There are MANY BMW forums with guys and gals working on their cars, as well as many DIY guides around for the M3 just like there are for the RX7. However, just like the RX7, you won't find them if you aren't looking.

Heck, most BMW chapters get together to do troubleshooting and various installs on club member cars once a quarter. The local chapter here got together at a garage where they had BMW's in the stalls all day fixing, modifying, and showing non-mechanics how to take care of their cars.

For the most part, people who buy BMW's (when new) aren't the kind to work on them. Generally, if you can afford a $60,000+ car, you can afford someone else to fix it. Heck, how about Ferrari's that have $10,000 tune-up's. The problem is when the cars get older and depreciate, the cars are affordable to people who couldn't afford them new... however the parts still cost the same. It's no different than the RX7, just a difference price point.

This is not really the thread to get into that, but nothing I can't handle. It's just not ready to take a beating on the track. That's one of the positives of a M3; just slap on some track brake pads and you are set for the track. No requirement for a ton of cooling mods (and I have tracked the M3 in ambient temps of 110F with track temps of 140F).

To date, the only major repair my M3 has had is the clutch. There have been some other small items. In the same amount of miles my M3 has been through, my RX7 of similar mileage has been through 2 engines and a slew of parts.

This question really depends on what your car is worth to YOU.... Not the buyer.... Not anyone else here on the forum.

A FD in excellent condition is often rare. When you pour a large amount of time & planning into building a car, it becomes more important than its simple market value. Ergo, your car is mildly modified but you see my point.

I personally, own my dream car. If I was to be offered an overly good deal, I would simply buy another one. The FD Rx7 is unmatched in style, performance, and rarity. It is my unicorn.

NO other car could replace an FD for me....NONE.

So with this, I think you should evaluate what your car means to you. You obviously have many options, but I don't think you have a lot of time to make the decision. From the sound of things, the guy with $25k will likely pick something up soon. I would have a hard time selling my baby to some money bags that wants a "cool" car......

I bought a 94 R2 red with apexi intake, greddy smic, silicone vacume lines, down pipe, racing beat dual tip exhaust for $20k. You guys think that was too much?

Sell it. Hell, I'd even sell mine for $25k if someone offered to buy it off me for that much.

You have got to be kidding me. You dumped so much cash into your car and its so much better than a stock NSX, especially one you can get for 25k.

If I were the OP, I would sell the car and buy another FD. If someone offered me that money for my FD, I would flatly refuse. I have poured way to much money into my car. Probably over 25k by now.

Who's fault is that? Your FD has been sitting for what, five years now? Ridiculous. Mine was down for six months, tops, and I went through everything on the car.

Again, taking things out of context. I'd respond, but it would be pointless as you'd post more of your usual gibberish.

I guess it really depends on how attached you are to THAT car. Obviously, 25k is an extremely outrageous offer. I think it's safe to say that even I would sell my MINT 93' VR touring (only 56k) for 18-20k. So, if it were me, I'd sell it, take the 25k, buy another nice FD for MUCH less, and pocket the extra money. Hell, use the extra money to modify it and probably still have some left over to look at.

25k is about the price for a VERY well sorted LSx car with low miles, near-perfect paint, nice wheels, working ps and a/c, etc. I wouldn't expect a rotary car to go for that much unless it was one of those rare "found in storage with less than 5,000 miles" type things.

Fixed it for ya, but I still don't agree with it. I think 25k for a VERY well sorted rotary engined FD rx-7 is appropriate. O.P. doesn't sound like he wants to let it go for 25k so. KEEP IT! Personally, I would probably sell...

Wishing I had $25,000...
