She has arrived..

Just got my '94 touring last Friday, drove it from an auto auction in Fredricksburg, VA all the way to Rochester, NY about 500 miles - What heat issues?? She needs a little body work and a paintjob and soon I'll be enjoying her. I'm still looking for a rear bumper and a hatch so pm me if you happen to have one.
The car has 77k miles on it and runs great, only problem is the oil pressure guage. It skips around a lot and sometimes just sits on zero. When the body gets done I'll make sure to get her to a Mazda dealer to check it out though. The guy who had her before left receipts (sp?) of maintenance jobs at a dealership and I noticed one was for a brand new turbocharger installation at 50k miles which cost him around $4,000. I think this is good news.
The rest of the car is bone stock besides an aftermarket muffler welded on to stock piping.
I've been searching the forum and am going to start doing some reliability mods such as al. AST, rx7fashion DP, Koyo radiator, boost and water guages, and a CB of some sort. Am I taking the right road or is there something I should do differently? Any opinions are helpful. Oh BTW Im also looking for an antenna, a Bose right speaker and amp and some 99 spec tail if anyone has any.

I'd make sure you heard good thing about that particular mazda dealership from somebody else who owns an rx7. Most of them don't know crap about working on them. They didn't even know too much back when the car was new.... now that it's 10+ years old... I'd rather have a retarded mokey work on it than most mazda dealerships.

I wouldn't recommend going to a mazda dealership. They have screwed me over big time in the past. There should be a good rotary mechanic in your area so go to them. Also If I remember right someone on the forum was selling cf hatch for around 500 dollars(I could have the price wrong) and then you would just need to get some "glass" for it. I think they were talking about using lexan. I found a link to the piece. Its 550 through the rx7 store. http://www.rx7store.net/index.asp?Pa...ROD&ProdID=828 I hope this helps you out. Also your looking at a few thousand dollars worth of body work too unless you do alot your self. I have a dent on my rear quarter panel less severe than your and its costing me more than a couple thousand dollars including a new paint job.

FD's are so hot, even when damaged! (As someone mentioned)

Hey man, I'm from Orange county. PM me when you have the car running in tip-top shape, perhaps by then I'll have one good to go.

Keep her wingless

Ye she still looks pretty good even though shes a little damaged I agree. Yes the passenger door opens up and everything, its just the quarter panel and the rear of the sideskirt thats a little damaged. yetisoldier, thanks for the link but I was looking more for a stock piece. Im debating whether I should get a wing or not, if I am I'll probably go with the Racing Beat type I, but well see.

Kinda looks like it may have been involved in a slow side tipped roll-over?? Although, the door mirror should have been damaged.

Can't really tell. Photo is a little dark, But,..rear-end doesn't look like it's suffered significant impact?? Looks like the back-up lenses have been taken off, not broken off??

Thanks. Actually I'm not sure what happened myself. I thought it might of flipped over since the roof is scratched all over, but then theres the side?? My buddy said the guy might of lost control and took a walk in the woods. Ye I took the bumper lights off that same day. I'll post a pic of what it looks like with the light, bumper and hatch off later today if I can get it to work. zmarco, thanks for the link, I just pmd the guy. I paid a little much for it, 7k, but the receipts are worth it alone. I think with the repairs and parts it will run me around $10-12k, which isn't too bad. It makes it that much more fun though getting the car messed up and then to build it up slowly until its streetable. Its just a bitch to have to wait all that time. O well.

A word of advice.Lose the ugly *** catback. Also you may want to consider a carbon fiber rear hatch.Especially since you actually need a new hatch. Why not shed off some weight while you are at it.Plus is doesnt even need to be painted.
As for the quarter panel.Ouch.The quarter panels on the fd are very big pieces and im sure will be costly. But if you got it for a cheap price its not that bad.
