Seibon carbon fiber TS hood

94 RHD

front of Seibon hood not latching down fully. When I push down it doesn’t engage the hood latch fully only the first hook. Tried looking for differences in old hood. Can’t find the problem.

This is as far down as the hood goes

Have you verified your hood latch mates up correctly?

Yeah so it clicks down once into the initial latch hook and then doesn’t click down the second time to fully engage the latch

You can hear the first one engage and then no matter how hard I press on the hood it doesn’t lock down completely

Does it feel like there's a hard stop, like the second latch isn't open to accept it? Or you can push it flush and it just won't lock?

I get the hood completely leveled (maybe even lower) and it just doesn’t engage

Rubber hood stops/bumpers

Check that the hood bumpers aren’t hitting. Maybe they don’t compress enough for the new hood.

Measure the length of the OE loop vs your new hood loop. Slight difference could prevent the secondary lock mechanism from clicking.

Quick thoughts, good luck, hood looks sweet

Both the hinges and the latch have an adjustment range, might be as simple as that. Always a danger with aftermarket composite bits though of wonky molds and resulting product - ask me how I know!

so you were both right! The bumpers needed reducing and the latch needed the ol’ drimmel but I did it!

I had a similar issue with a Seibon DS hood I had on my car and actually cracked the clear gel coal one day down by the latch point because I tried to push it closed too far up on the hood. Be careful with it and consider adding hood pins.

Happy you got it taken care of. If you don't mind update this and let us know how the temps go if noticeably better.

Great to hear

Good job, looks awesome. Hope the functionality is there as well. My vented hood + v mount has great temp control and airflow
