Scoot hood...Read this

I want the scoot hood but I have a couple of concerns:

1. Rotary Xecret 7 says hood won't work with strut tower bar. Is this true?

2. There is a hell of alot of vents in this hood...What about all the water that will come in when it rains? Don't other hoods have "plugs" for wet weather?

3. Doesn't UV light F**K with carbor fiber? I'd hate to buy a $1100 hood and have it look like **** in 2 years.

4. What will the fit and quality be. Will you be able to just bolt it on or will it need expensive bodyshop fittiment?

I really want in on this GB but I need some reassurance first. Any comments are appreciated.

The real Scoot hoods are Fibre Glass not CF so you won't have to worry about UV light.

1. I have seen it personally fit with R1 bar..but it didn't work with m2intake and m2 IC...but I see it work with rx7fashion box and FMIC

2. dont drive in the rain..really I dont know the answer to this one

3. It's FB like chris said

4. The real scoot hood fits very well..kinda of a small gap in the front..but up the sides..very nice..

ETC..The GB is for copies...Chuck the guy running the GB is trust worthy.. I can go over and beat him down for you

1. On the rotaryextreme.com site which is hosting the group buy, the sample pic of the hood on an FD shows it with a strut bar.

2. Don't get the hood if it's a daily driver, you have to contend with rain and also people who think it's funny to pour soda or other liquids into your engine compartment. Most hoods do come with the block off plates, not sure if Chuck's do yet, but it wouldn't be that hard to fabricate some.

3. UV light only messes up carbon fiber that has a poor sealant or clear coat on top of it.

4. The quality will most likely be top notch and fitment will be near pefect. Pictures are supposed to be sent of a finished copy before production starts to make sure everyone is satisfied....

I'm going in on the group buy this week, as soon as the banks open tomorrow....

That hood has too many vents when it rains youre motor will get wet giving you electrical problems. It will attract people who want to see whats under those vents, plus you dont want to over cool youre motor too much. The ECU needs to see at least 180F you dont want to run any lower than that a hood with too many vents will drop temps too much at speed.

The scoot replica hood will have the rain blocking trays as seen on the original. The rain blocking trays will prevent water to get onto the engine block. As far as too much cooling, you have to know there is a water thermostat that maintains the water temperature at 180F. There is no such thing as too much cooling.

The ECU is programed to run Idle speed, timing, fuel injection and other fuctions within a specific temp range. There is also a water t-stat,oil t-stat that both begin to operate at 180F for the reason of maintaining a min temp. There is a thermosensor in the water passage before the t-sta that senses water temp for the ECU operation. If you run too cool the ECU goes into a cold start or limp mode mode untill it sees normal temp. I run just a sealed upgraded rad and two stock R2 oil coolers, I see 175-185F cruising there is no need to run any cooler than that.
