Please anyone, if you know, speak up. I need another eccentric shaft and am wanting to go with the RX8 shaft, but am not sure what else is needed besides the shaft. Thanks

Needs to be balanced and fitted (forget the correct term). If you use RX8 rotors you need RX8 apex seals and weights and they need to be fited and balanced as well. You may want to do a thermal pellet as well.

 

Whay would you use the 8 shaft? Is it a 2 piece? Is there any real gain in doing this?

 

I'm going to be using my FD rotors. So, do I just send off my rotors, counterweights, RX8 E.shaft, and clutch assembly out to get balanced? Where would I go about doing so? Thanks for the input.

 

It's only $172 brand new and is .6lbs lighter. I was told that mine is warped or damaged, so it may need replacing. Since I am going to be back in the motor, I might as well put in a new E.Shaft and an RX8 shaft is much cheaper.

I don't think there is any difference other than it being lighter and cheaper. Should be just as strong.

If you do rx-8 rotors it's my understanding that you need to get them machined for compression. But from what i recall they're much lighter than ours.

 

search guitarjunkie28 (RIP) I believe he built an engine with the 8 shaft.

you might need the gears/bearings, and drill them for oil supply...I can't quite remember all the details.

 

If your going to go through all that trouble, take a look at Racing Beat's Lightened Rotor Assembly... I'm thinking of doing this myself eventually (when motor blows)...

except that lightweight rotors are usually ~$2,000+ and this eshaft is a drop in replacement (or close to it) for just a little more than a used one from the forum.
