Hey bro everyone on the forum is going to jump on you for this little comment.
I suggest you click the back button from this post and read the stickies on top of the 3d gen section.
Tons of people use their rx7 as a daily driver and it is only not reliable if you don't know what mods to get in what order, don't know how to maintain it, or don't have it tuned properly.

chris, that depends on what YOUR idea of a good daily driver is...if anything my wife and i share her little toyota tercel. I don't like driving the 7 all the time cuz of its gas mileage. But as most of us here would probably agree that gas mileage and complaints of the like go out the window once you feel the boost kick in.

Is the FD a good daily driver? Well, that depends on a few things:
1. Tires. If you need to drive in the rain, it's a light car. Make sure to purchase all weather tires instead of high performance tires which won't give you much traction on wet roads (a lot of wrecks happen because of this with FD's).
2. A/C. The FD A/C is not the best in the world. I don't know how that will effect you driving it during the day in the summer time.
3. Gas. The FD typically gets around 12-13mpg in the city. But we aren't talking the cheap 87 octane stuff here, you NEED premium in the car no matter what.
*IF* you get a FD that is in good shape. *IF* you take care of a few reliability mods, and *IF* you can take care of the car properly, the FD can/will last a long time as a daily driver if you can deal with some minor confort issues.
I did use my FD as a daily driver when I first got it, as the car put me into serious debt (bought a lemon, needed a new engine & turbos, etc etc). Eventually I was able to purchase a daily beater, and have never regretted it. The daily beater was the best mod I ever did.

Thanks mahjik
as far as the a/c not being all that great, it won't bother me mainly because my current car doesn't have a a/c, lol
and as far as the gas mileage, that won't bother me either, because of my car only getting 7mpg and i have to use premium also or it will run like ****

I agree with Majhik. Buy a beater. I bought an '85 300ZX for $1900 that gets me to work and back, and gets taken out on rainy days.
If you do buy one, you will like it more than the Roadrunner! I sold a '70 440-6 Barracuda to get mine and I haven't looked back!

After having the convience of a daily driver that gets about 30mpg with good A/C? I'll never give that up. Plus, it's nice to have something that's slower. After a while, you get "used" to the power of the car, it doesn't feel as fast because you are driving it all the time. Having a daily beater fixes that problem. Also, not having the FD as the primary car on insurance is also a nice benefit to keeping some more money in your pocket.
Thefts of the car is another concern. The more people the see the car around, the more attention it will attract.

Damn Majhik!!! Took all my pointers I too use the RX only as a toy. During the day, I'm proud to say that I drive an 95 Neon with no A/C and a hole in the mufler. . Everything majhik said is true, cheaper on gas, car stays prettier longer, the boost becomes a treat not and not an everyday thing. The only part that sucks is when you pull up next to a Supra at the light and you wish you had your FD . That's the worst feeling. In conclusion, I choose to keep mine looking pretty and rust free so I leave it in the garage and drive it about 75 miles per week.
Oh yeah this thread was about reliability. It's reliable if you know what you're doing and take care of the maintenance. Also, if you drive it hard, it'll poop in the end. Good luck

If these things aren't a concern to you, get the car and drive it everyday.
Me? I like my car. I'm trying to do everything I can to make it last.
