thinking about buying from LAmotorcars, any opinions? searched and found insufficient
I thought to myself...."I really am only going to be driving the car for about 3 years.....o hey LAmotorcars has a 3 year warranty!"
I emailed them and they said the warranty covers everything from the A/C **** to a new engine(!) wow, so why are they so inexpensive? I did a search and one guy said he carfaxed one of the cars and it had salvage title, but hey it's under warranty...
So who's bought a car from them? Would you rather spend the extra time to look for a good car from a private seller or does LAmotorcars do a good job?
Notice I'm typing LAmotorcars as one word since "LA" is under 3 letters so people in the future can search for this thread if this turns out useful.
Thanks y'all.

LA Motorcars
I believe they work directly w/ Rotary Performance. So I would imagine their cars are pretty sound mechanically.
Warranties are nice and they work under the same principle as insurance......more people buy them than need them.

anyone know....
I heard that they have this thing where certain modifications done by RP are also covered. anyone know how that works?
So anyone know exactly why they can afford to sell their cars relatively inexpensively?

LA Motorcars gets no respect from me. I bought my FD from them last January. They said it had gone through full diagnostics at RP, yet when I called up Ari he had no clue what I was talking about and said they did not service my vehicle. LA Motorcars said the interior was immaculate...Ha, far from it. The seats were VERY worn and door panel skins were a little faded. The first day I got the car the radiator blew and the so called warrany from them did not cover it. Lance "forgot" to put me in the computer has having a warrany for about a month. The car has been in the shop for quite some time with engine repairs. The motor just blew last week and I have had the car for about 5k miles. Full diagnostics? yea right

Post in the south Forum
If you post in the South Forum you will get a lot more responses from people that have dealt with him directly.
Cetchup sorry about your bad deal. I have not dealt with Lance but a friend of mine, bought 2 cars from him and no problems. One was an Rx7. He blew the motor twice!!! and the warranty worked without a glitch. Actually you are the first that I hear that had a problem with Lance. Yes, I also heard that the reason for the good deals is some cars have salvaged titles, so buyer beware.

I bought my car from Lance a couple years ago and still deal with him frequently. I have had nothing but great service.
As for not being Texas cars, Lance buys from all over the country.
Again I would urge anyone with warranty or buying questions to give him a call, that's the easiest way to find out what you wish to know.

As for the rebuild. I have not yet contacted him because of other issues I am dealing with. However I plan on giving him a call later on this week. I wouldn't doubt it if he tries to find a loop hole somewhere. Hopefully that does not occur. If it does in fact, I am WELL prepared.

The warranty is NOT through LAmotorcars, he purchases an aftermarket warranty for the cars. You should have the shop contact the warranty company.
I purchased my car from Lance and have had no bad experiences at all. He did tell me that my car had NOT been to RP yet, or even cleaned, since he only had it for a day or two. I called RP and had the car in thier shop the next day for a full check out, including a Dyno run with Lance's permission. Car check out fine.
With regards to the warranty: When I got the car I had the usual rear clunking sound (bushings) and Lance told me to wait 90 days for the warranty to be well in service then get it fixed. Warranty company picked up the tab with no issues, 90 days later just as Lance said.
As with ANY car you are looking at, have it checked by a good Rotary shop. You pay the tab and therefore should expect a unbiased result. RP does do ALL of Lance's work and they treat him well. He can get a car in there pretty much as fast as he can get it to them.
In a nutshell, I am happy with my experience with LAmotorcars and RP. I would certainly do business with either again, and do all the time with RP. However, if this car was a lemon and had major mechanical problems there would be no one to blame but myself. Check the VIN yourself, look at the car condition, and get it to a Rotary specialist. The warranty was just gravey for me.
