Rx7 Rear Window Louvers

Wondering if anyone has ran louvers on their FD, so I can gauge to see how they look. I was thinking about fabricating up a set, in a way to pay homage to the FC and previous models that came with louvers. So if you have done it, or are great with photo shop to where you can mock a photo up, would be great appreciated.

Ha ha ha

You just made me want to see a pic of an FD with the Pandem Rocket Bunny Boss RX-3 front end and some louvers!

Any brave photo shoppers?

Eh...old enough to have bought a new 81 back in the day with factory hatch louvers. As a matter of fact I just recently ran across the original MAZDA latch key for them in the back of an old toolbox. But remembering them as being an absolute PITA. A relatively expensive flat-black fry-eggs-in-the-sun-hot, paint fading, rattle-making, heavy hinged, dirt-trapping kinda PITA. They worked...sort of...I guess, to give you a fighting chance at saving the interior from sun rot and barely adequate A/C. Nice thought and I appreciate the nastalgia but not in this case. Give me a good window tint. Can't see it with the lines of the FD anyway.

I had some cool ABS material louvers on my 2nd gen, worked well, could see out them decent, and definitely didn't look bad.

I remember when FDs came out there were a couple of companies making some aftermarket things for them...one was a little 'duck bill' looking thing that extended aft a few inches over the hatch glass...didn't look all that bad.
I may be in the minority here, but I can see the RIGHT louver solution being okay...it would need to be close-fitting and aerodynamic.

Funny you say that, I wanted the louvers after seeing him fabricate a pair for his FRS. Haha.

Rattle making for damn sure. I used to have louvers on my first car, a Mitsubishi Cordia, and other than making the back of my car look like a Cylon fighter, didn't add much else, lol. Tint accomplished the same with less.

I guess what was cool back in the day is coming back just like full length rear view mirrors.

Oooooo yeah!

Those Cylon Raiders were so cool when I was a kid.

And so were louvers on cars.

Friggen FD looked like some organo-technic Inbit from Mospeada when it came out...

I may have found someone to bring this in to fruition, hopefully it's as good as I imagined.
