CA Rx7 FD Oil pan and gasket

Recently got an oil leak and upon lifting the car up I found out that its from the oil pan gasket. Since my oil pan is dented in the middle I've decided to replace both pan and gasket. Just had a question about the oil pan, I was wondering if the rhd oil pan would fit a lhd 93 model? I can get it for about less then half the price of the lhd oil pan. If you have any idea please chime in and let me know. Thanks guys.

Not sure on the LHD to RHD. As far as the notorious oil pan leak, go with a Banzai brace. If you are pulling it anyway, it's definitely worth the extra effort. The OEM gasket will simply leak again.

Note: Banzai states the brace fits all models.

Recommend Garfinkles oil pan brace over Banzai's. Garfinkle notches his out for the flutes in the oil pan where as Banzai does not, putting all the pressure on the flutes forcing the pan to want to flare out at the bottom, vs Garfinkle's putting positive pressure all around.

you can simply reseal with using Permatex The Right Stuff silicone sealant.... the OEM gasket is not even worth using as it will simply leak again.

Agreed. I use Hondabond for all sealing. The Right Stuff is good as well.

Another vote for Garfinkle's brace and losing the OEM gasket. Regardless, you may need to mill the steel MM arms 3/16" to compensate for the thickness of the brace.
And the pans are the same...

Not sure what you are talking about. Banzai's brace fits perfectly on the parallel surface excluding the rib of the pan.

US and JDM oilpans are the same. Our braces are on cars all over the world http://banzai-racing.com/store/FD_oil_pan_brace.html

Actually it is exactly the opposite of that. Having a groove in the brace reduces the positive pressure on the pan to only the bolt points. Our brace puts positive pressure on the pan between the bolt locations, by using the beaded channel in the pan as a metal gasket. This is where the pressure is needed.

There is absolutely zero flaring of the pan, I do not even know where someone would dream that one up.

We can go into some of the other differences while we are here. Our brace is plated to prevent rusting, the other one is not. Why anyone would install a non-coated mild steel brace on the most element seen area of a car is beyond me. Our brace comes with a stud kit, not bolts that strip out the aluminum holes when torqued. We always have our braces in stock, no need to wait for a group buy, we are an active sponsor of this forum, not a banned member.....the list goes on and on.

I explain in great detail in this thread, with pictures, why we intentionally do not have a groove in our brace. To make it short and sweet, machining a groove makes for an inferior seal. Pictures of oil pan that spent 2 years with a brace attached, no flaring.

Below is a picture of a factory FD UIM metal gasket. We use the same sealing properties incorporated into the stamped ridges of this gasket to provide a superior seal for the oil pan, by utilizing the pan ridge as a metal gasket. Mazda doesn't machine a groove into the UIM for the same reasons.

+1 for Banzai Racing Oil Pan Steel Brace and some Ultra Black RTV. Haven't had a single drop since using both.

Don't even waste your time with a gasket there.
