Most people that don't know the car will tell you no...but it can be. The Rx7 is very tempermental and must be maintained properly. You can't just get up and drive it everyday without doing the proper maintenance to the vehicle. If you want to call that unreliable, then yes it is.

and the Newbie Sticky Thread at the top of the forum:

I never posted anything like that, I just bought the car, found the problems and then posted questions on how to fix them.

An RX-7 is just as reliable as any other turbocharged sports car. As with any sports car, 1 wrong modification and you have a blown engine.

I think when they register their new username, there should be some sort of link about information on the rx-7's reliability so they won't ask.
Yes, an FD is unreliable if it is not maintained properly. Even then, things can happen.

how many times must this question be asked? NO! the third gen rx7 is unreliable, it is very tempermental and prone to break all the time. If you want a daily driver look elsewhere

Johnny - can you set something so that when new members register, they have to read something and then take a short common-sense quiz on what they read, before it allows them to post? Just a quiz to make sure they read what was put infront of them instead of just clicking through it. I don't know if it's possible, and I'm not trying to discourage membership, but it might be something to look into

Johnny, I think you should make a flashing neon picture at the top of the 3rd gen forum that says SEARCH YOU NEWB!

there should be like a pop up that says, "have you searched this topic?". this pop up should come up when they post up to like 50 or something. i think a pop up would work great.

I totally agree with Big Red
I have even posted this somewhere else to Jonny
I'm not like a forum pro I'm a new guy here but that doesn't mean I don't have common sense
Obviously the way the forum is setup is causing the same reaction from people over and over
it would be very easy to have about a page of general history about rx7s and the main faqs and tell the people that sign up how to act on the forum
this would solve most of the problems if not all and would put the new member in the correct mindset and all of the forum members will then have all of the same goals and be focused in the same direction and understand each other.
Any way that's me and if there is no change made you need to just stop getting angry at everyone that posts dumb questions about rx7s when they don't know that they have to search or that it is a dumb question at all
I'm sure it is annoying though as a moderator and my suggestions were meant only to make your life easier and to help the new members not make fools of themselves at first

I agree that this newbie question is posted alot but you guys sure dont make them feel welcome when you knock them for not using the search button.

edit: And I would rather spend my day sorting through good newbie questions like this than the crap in the lounge.

hmmm

The search button works good, however, it is always nice to have the personal touch of a fresh answer...

People's views on this board change often...like there was a month long period of everyone saying "GUT THE CATS" and then it changed to "BUY RACING BEAT" and then it changed to "NEVER GUT YOUR CATS...CRAPPY BACK PRESSURE"

Things change over time, my view on the RX-7 changes all the time...why just the other day I mistook my airpump for my waterpump and just about spend $250US on a new water pump...Also I was worried about putting my car back on the road with the stock exhaust, I am just gutting my cats for now and getting some racing beat later.

I personally think we could "ask" them to use the search option but still give them a constructive answer...

Besides, this forum wouldn't be a fun time filler without new posts and new newbies to laugh at (i know I used to be one)

DSM forum has a big "WE'VE SEEN THESE QUESTIONS BEFORE" forum where they keep a bunch of posts that answer commonly asked questions. I think that would work great.
