running off the down pipe

I have a 93 rx7 twin turbo with the basics done to it but I was recently thinking of running my car from the down pipe and I was wondering how safe it was. I know that other cars do it but for an rx7 to do it is it alright. My dad is scared that I will blow my self up.

with out porting your waste gate, youll get boost creep...which can and will kill your engine...take my word for it, it just happend to me...only for different reasons.

you can however run a restrictor plate and that might cut down on your problems
but overall you need to port the waste gate, thats gonna be ******* loud

I wouldn't do it just because of the high exhaust temps of a turbo rotary. Why do you want to do this????

i wouldnt do that for 3 reasons:

1. with just a dp for your exhaust, you have no back pressue so your gonna have boost creep and pop your motor.
2. its gonna be so damn loud your not going to be able to hear yourself think.
3. your gonna melt a hole in your passenger floorboard. with the exhaust exiting right under your car, its gonna cause tremendous heat under the passenger. The overheat exhaust lite thats next to the e-brake measures the temp below the passenger floorboard. i have never seen one go off, but if you try this you may be the first.

why? Just drill a hole in the passanger fender and run the piping straight out of that.

Turn the NACA duct into your exhaust. Can you imagine what you'd ruin shooting a flame out of that? =-O

You can do it. But it really will be loud. The risks you are taking are much higher than the benefits of removing your cat/midpipe and exaust.

All I have to say, is if you do decide to do it, make sure that you have taken the proper precations to ensure the life of your engine.
In this case you would want a new ECU
Primary Injectors
Innercooler
Steve Khan tuning <----- the most imiportant

I've driven my 7 before with just the DP but I barley boosted the car, its really not worth it besides making your car rediculously loud. The reason why people with wrx's do it all the time, well.... they're wrx's.
