rotary extreme's engine torque brace

i wanted to see if anyone has this one their car and what their impressions are. rotary extreme claims that it is a true damper unlike many other products that cannot make this claim. thanks in advance.

I got this one duboisr.

Call David Garfinkle and get his. It's way cheaper ($85), and a very well made product. (615)-893-4469

I've never used theirs but I someone mentioning that an oil filed motercycle steering damper would prematurely wear out because of the engine bay heat. I have no idea if this is true and can't remember if it was them that said it. I think it was on the other forum. 5Zigen makes a damper with spring that looks like a mini coil over but as of yet it's not available for the FD, jt-imports is looking in them making one.

Isn't Garfinkle the moose sidekick to the squirel in that old cartoon with Borris and Natasha?

Bullwinkle has antlers and a squirel sidekick . Garfinkle does not have antlers but is alittle squirely .If a brace has a damper then it will let the engine move a different distance with each different amount of torque. This will put the shifter in a different place each time you shift . How will that help you hit third instead of fifth . With the rubber bushings limiting the travel the shifter is near the same place each time .Bingo less movement no vibration .

Question

I know it has to been asked before, but I have not seen the answer.
Why does the engine is mounted then on rubber bushings and not bolted directly to the chasis??? a solid mount???
Is it all do to vibration dampening, noise reduction, safety laws...etc???
What are the engineers missing or doing here????
Thanks for the answer and sorry for the high jacking.

vibration throughout the rest of the chassis would be horrible if you did that. . . and it could crack things on the car that you dont want cracked.

yeah, you shoulda kept that brace. . . expecially since you got totally hooked up on that deal.

Its probably a better idea to invest in urethane motormounts. They'll stiffen up the engine movement pretty good. I put a solid torque brace in my car and I think preloading it actually puts more wear and tear on the motormounts. Every time I took it off to do maintenance, I'd spend a few days setting it to the right preload adjustment. Urethane mounts would solidify the setting of the engine and make adjustment of the brace easier.

Where do you get those urethane motor mounts for a reasonable price?

I'm sure there's other vendors who have them in stock, but they're around $500 and then you get refunded $75 a piece for each core mount, so it comes out to $350.
