Question New Clutch

Im about to start an auto to 5 speed swap, and im not sure which clutch to buy. i want an aftermarket clutch with good performace on the street. i dont plan to take it to a track, so im only lookin for a street clutch. also i plan to get a lightweight flywheel while im at it. (not sure if that will make a diffrence in which i will choose.) does the name brand matter? I found several on rx7store.net, and other sites. they mention terms such as 4 puck and 6 puck, im not sure what that means. any help is appreciated.

also i just wanted to note, i have had nothing but good information from this forum. any question i have asked has been answered. u guys rock!

Puck clutches have too harsh of engagement. Buy the ACT Street/Strip clutch. It comes with a standard sprung organic clutch friction surface so it transitions well, It clamps better due to a heavy Duty Pressure plate that doesnt allow the clutch to slip once fully engaged to the flywheel. A Good Clutch with Street manners.

I really liked my act heavy duty clutch. I had installed it with the racing beat lightweight steel flywheel. I noticed a difference with the flywheel, but I wish I had gotten the lighter aluminum one. The clutch is great, and currently I have a centerforce df, and the pedal feels too soft, and doesnt have as much clamping force as the act. The 6 puck will probably be too harsh for street driving, unless you get the racing beat one which has springs in it. Even still it will not be easy to drive on the street and will wear out the flywheel faster. My advice is get the 11lb flywheel along with an act heavy duty clutch with organic disc. I'm sure a lot of other people would recommend this setup also.

HD pressure plate, ceramic 6-puc sprung hub clutch, 8.5 pound T-6061 billet aluminum flywheel. Do have to rev the rpms to engage that takes some getting used to. But idle sometimes sporadic spool is very quick...
