maybe even get fancy and hook it up to something like a turbo timer, so instead of idling the car for 1min and CAUSING heatsoak, it would run the fans for 1min and actually do something

Im impressed with the harness man! Uve got a helluva lot more patience and wiring skills than i do

well I was thinkin a little bit smaller scale, like a timer circuit ro something to that effect. Something that will switch it off AFTER the engine finally shuts down, maybe like 3-5 minutes afterwards...

I lack in the electrical field and wouldn't really know how to go about doing that....

Anyone have any ideas?

Can anyone else confirm that taking off one of the ecu grounds ( There are two that bolt to the engine) will make the fans run?

what you would need is some kind of timed circuit, probably using a capacitor....but in your case you would want the circuit to hold OPEN for a certain amount of time, which would be dictated by the amount of electricity the capacitor holds.

So basically, youd need that capacitized (sp?) circuit that is normally open with electricity wired a 12v source when ignition is on and an on/off switch wired AROUND the circuit. That way you can use the on/off switch to dictate when it runs and when it doesnt. And then whenever the switch is in the off position, the only available circuit is the capacitor, so then it would keep the entire circuit off for a given amount of time, running the fans. If the switch is on, then the ground has an alternative path and the fans stay off.....make sense? Ill draw a diagram later, lol

Was going to take this to a PM but I am sure other people would like to know.

1st. What are your mods

and..

2nd. With knowing your mods, what did you end up keeping for the harness. Emissions compatible?

And again, awesome work. Car looks nice! Love the stance.

T04S
1680cc secondaries
Greddy Front Mount
KG Rail
And all supporting mods
No AC
No PS
No Airpump

Lets see I ended up keeping

Injectors (4)
Crank Angle Sensors (2)
Water Thermo Switch
Water Termo Sensor
Air Intake Temp
Idle Control Sensor
Throttle Position Sensor
O2 Sensor
Knock Sensor

ok, I have no gauges at all, im thinking I forgot a ground on the harness... everything else works fine, and the PFC pickups all the sensors, it just doesn't get to the gauges.

For your gauges, I would be sure to check silly little things like fuses and stuff before opening the cluster.

PS, engine bay pics please!!!

Exactly which gauges aren't working? Speedo? Tach? Do the broken gauges light up, or not? Did you check on those fuses? Both the engine box and the interior box?

hmmm no gauges, when i stripped mine down i just messed up one wire that caused my map sensor not to work but got that fixed up. I also forgot all my grounds so my PFC woud snap on for a sec but then go back off, spent more time trouble shooting that then i should of. But like asked already to they light up? Your gas tank one of course runs off a different harness so that explains that one. Does your PFC get any RPM reading or if you havnt turned it on yet what are your VTAs and other sensors saying?

Everything works fine, the PFC gets all the correct readings. The gauges light up fine, the Odometer reads fine when the engine is off, when its started the odometer goes blank. Thats why im thinking its just a ground somewhere....

Also what about your blickers, cruise control light, what if you take a little coolent out, will it set your low coolent buzzer off? I would guess it has someting to due with either grounding like you said or one of the connecters that run to the main harness (Blue and white.) I would imagine those are the ones that send signal to the gauges. Also what if unplug your map sensor will it set off you exhust overheat light? Once you get a few of these things found out that should help trace it.

Ok i said the car runs fine, that would mean the map sensor works fine too ...

everything else works except the Tach, Speedo, Oil, and Temp...

It HAS to be a grounding issue, i just need to figure out what ground it is...

The cluster is fine, it has to do with the x-14 or x-5 connector....
