Review: ACC carpet
I've seen a lot of threads regarding carpet supplied by ACC. There are many retailers that sell it, but in the end no matter who you buy it from, it ships directly from the manufacturer. I think total price for me was $135 including shipping. When you receive it, it will be folded up in a small box, about a 3x1x1 foot box. I ordered the 601 black nylon loop, matches the stock carpet better.
The carpet comes pre-molded, but no cut outs. You have to do the cuts yourself.
To keep it economical, I decided to use the stock backing from my tan carpet. The mass backing option was like $50 or so bucks more. It was a little work, but it will peel off your old carpet. I tried using a heat gun, but it didn't help much. I would just keep working it off little by little. It comes with plenty of jute padding. I tore out all the old stuff and put in the new stuff.
This is the stock carpet on top of the ACC carpet. Forgot to get a pic the other way around.
Close up view of the sides of both carpets.
Another close up, one on top of the other.
This is with just the stock backing in the car. Sorry its blurry
Now with the carpet in on top of the vinyl backing. Again, blurry.
I tried to use some glue to put the backing with the carpet, it started getting messy so I just stuck it on top without glue. Didn't make any difference to me. I wouldn't suggest cutting your holes until the carpet is inside the car. Just keep peeling the carpet back and make your cuts comparing it with the stock backing. Trim a little bit at a time not to cut too much.
If you deciding between purchasing a stock black carpet used vs going this route, here's what you need to decide. Are you willing the pay the premium of about $350+? Are you looking for the easy route? If you're willing to do some work, for me the $200+ savings was worth it. My only critiques is that the ACC carpet is "sturdy" compared to the stock. It doesn't just fall into place. I would compare it to a flimsy piece of cardboard. But once its in, you can't tell. Also there is a square plastic pad that goes where your feet are. When installed, its a few degrees off, not parallel to the pedals. This becomes a non issue if you have carpet mats. I don't have any pictures of it in completely, but if I remember I'll post some. But it looks nice.

I also have this carpet. IMO its got an undeserved bad rep on this forum. It fits just fine with a little work, just like every other aftermarket carpet available for every other car. I get the impression the people hating on the carpet have never tried putting carpet in another car before.
