Question rev limiter question

i dont know much about rotary so sorry if the question is stupid.

just wanted to know if the 1995 japanese model rx7 had a rev limiter because the guy selling me a motor said that he blew up 2 motors before the one he shiped me. so i just want to know if you could take the motor past 8,000rpm's stock.

First of all, why do you want to rev past 8000 rpm?

On a stock motor, the power starts dropping off after 7000 rpm anyway. It takes a midpipe and perhaps even a streetport to make good power to 8000 rpm.

The warning buzzer goes off at 7500, redline is 8000, and the fuel cut-off happens at 8300.

if you run a streetport then it would be worth it to move it up...well it was for me. I run mine to 8100 now.

stock..thats a waste...and an idiot for doing it.

Why would the engine be damaged by going past the red line? Is it because it leans out? I know the valves aren't going to start floating.

Revving above redline causes engine wear due to oil not able to properly lubricate moving parts.

There is a reason it's called redline.

what does everyone rev there car to here...In an average race or boostRun persay? what 7500 or 7k flat? One of my rotorite buddies once told me that the seriously modded rx7's (i assume single turbo guys with serious engine managment peripherals) that most of those guys make peak power around 8500-9k rpm...But im not sure how close that is to the truth..

there are no valves to float but the apex seals may float
