Resetting Gauge Needles

I finally Orders some Gauges to change my stock ones. I ordered them in white w/ blue glow. they should be in on Monday or tuesday. (demo Pics below. Thanks to FD3Boost)
Well the problem is the Guy at Black Cat said that i would need someone to reset the gauges so they would'nt be off. Is ot pretty easy to do on my own or should i take them somewhere to get them done?

Thanks,
Jay

I'm going to do a full write up . they told them since they had'nt done a test on a rx-7 gauge cluster. that they would try to make it as blue as posible without making it to dark. also without making it too light.

On a side note I also Ordered a HID kit. I got it on ebay here:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...RK%3AMEWN%3AIT

I'll do full write up on the install on that as well.

Exclamation

Its very easy to reset the needles. First off you want to make sure you start with a full tank of gas. Second thing you need to do is to let the car get to running temps and take note of how long it took to warm and where the needle rests at once there. Last thing to do is take a small test drive up the street and write down the positions of the tach and speedo in third gear at 3krpm and fith gear at 3k rpm. One should suffice but do two just to play it safe. You should be somewhere near 50mph at 3rd gear at 3k rpm. Once you have made note of those two things you should be all set. After removing the original faces and you have installed the new ones. Do not reassemble the cluster. Take only the white plastic gauge housing out to the car and plug all the connectors into the back. Turn the car on and let it get up to running temps. Once you know its warmed up gently take the needle and pplace it on the post where you need it. Do not push them on hard, barely let the rest in place. You want to make sure they are all inthe correct spots before pushing them on all the way. Ok so follow suit with the oil pressure gauge. At idle it normally sits right under 60. Then you know the gas gauge needle should be at full since you filled the tank up. The tricky ones are the tach and speedo. Set the tach first. Place the needle to where you idle normally sat 900krpm whatever, then try setting the speedo at 0. Remember to do this gently because you will have to drive up the road again and make sure that the two are calibrated to each other. If they don't match i.e.. 3rd gear @3k rpm you should be back at 50mph or whatever your measurement was to begin with. It will usually take a few tries to get them to match up. Thats why I say don't push the needle on very much. If you leave it loose it's easier to slip the needle back off and reset it in a better position. Anyway it's really not hard just take your time. Between a 1-10 I rate the difficulty at about a 4.
Have fun.

No worries. If you run into any problems feel free to PM me and I'll do my best to help you out. I doubt you will have any problems though. It's pretty straight forward.
