You're not trying to go to town on it, just gingerly remove. When done correctly, the nipple isn't damaged or destroyed and is reusable.

too late for that on the big heater core nipple on the LH side of the housing. I don’t really care about saving it. The goal is to have an AN fitting there instead. Have to admit that I didn’t recognize how thin it was until seeing PandazRx-7’s posts and photos, or that this was from 2013.

A slide hammer would be another way. If you're tapping for AN, probably have appropriate size at hand to thread in a bolt/socket head.

A slide hammer was going to be my next attempt this weekend. Not sure if I can get a good way to grip it with what I have in the kit. Will just try to figure it out then.
