Removing engine only find 1 ENGINE HOOK?!!?!

Rented engine hoist and need to return ASAP:

I'm almost to the point of pulling my motor, I only have 1 engine hook?!?!? I'm missing the one closest to the firewall on the passenger side...I'm i just blind or? I've seen pics of motors being pulled, I don't see why mine would be missing the motor is original. Could they have removed it for some reason when doing a recall or something?

My main questions are:

At what point can i grab the motor to pull it out? Is there any point that is safe to hook or wrap with chain, maybe attach something?

I plan to remove the 4 PPF nuts that connect it to the tranny, i'm looking at maybe a 16mm nut am i looking at the correct ones?

From there i was going to unbolt the driveshaft at the diff. Should this be all i need to do?

4x21mm nuts on the PPF

you can bolt the chain to the UIM

someone probably put a torque brace on your UIM and never put the hook back on

well what did you take off the motor? the hook on that side is on the intake manifold.

to make this easier, just unbolt the ppf, and pull the motor and tranny out as one. the shaft will just side out(make sure you drain the fluid first!).

one more question, did you disconnect everything thats on the motor? give us more information as to what you have done to remove it.

I had the same problem. I don't know why that darn hook is missing. However, I just used some chains and wrapped it around the oil pan and pulled it just fine.

All you have to do is pull out the u-joint on the driveshaft and it should slide out.

i removed everything but my lower intake manifold and put a bolt through a chain and bolted it down to where the rats nest bolts in. i dont recomend this way but it works.

I would be careful with the UIM/LIM. I've seen a LIM crack because of that. When I pull the engine, I reverse thread (for lack of a better term) a 14mm bolt into the rear plate where the tranny bolts to the engine and use the front engine hook.
