recalls, i am confuse

ok, i called mazda and they told me all three recalls were made on my car.

I checked behind the ecu to find the black box everyone is talking about to do the fan mod but i can't seem to find it.

Anybody has a picture of what it looks like?

It's there, but it's easier to see with the ECU pulled off

Good heavens...

Just call Mazda USA and give them your VIN #.. They'll check to see if the recalls have been performed on the car. If not, they'll take care of the recalls for free..

No medium-sized box? Wow, you push your car like Fred Flintstone? The recalls are only for 1993 models. You should still have a pigtail coming off the ECU, regardless. Pop off the passenger scuff plate and kick panel. There's yer ECU with the big-*** connector. Unscrew 3 phillips screws and gently pull it out. No black fan control box left on the bracket? Ok... how about hanging off the ECU itself all lonesome? If you had SSP39 done to your car, the ECU may have replaced the additional fan control box. In any case, there is and should be a black pigtail and it may be color-speckled/striped(green?) just hanging. That is what you need to ground out.

Here they are a little easier to see.
3.1.1 Coolant recall

The coolant recall involved the replacement of some cooling system parts
with stronger/more heat resistant materials and lowering the pressure of
the cooling system from 1.3 bar to .9 bar. The parts replaced were the
water pump seal, the water level sensor, the upper radiator hose, the
filler cap, the filler cap body, the thermostat gasket, the water hose
leading to the throttle body, and the water hose leading to the coolant
separator tank.

3.1.2 Fuel line recall

The fuel line recall involved replacing the fuel lines under the intake
manifold with lines made from a more heat resistant material, and adding
a fan control unit that runs the cooling fans if the coolant gets too
hot, even if the car is turned off.

3.1.3 Brake recall

The brake recall involves the replacement of a vacuum check valve and
hose leading to the brake booster. The original unit may stick when
oily and cold, preventing power assist under braking.

Puma: I have had all three recalls done (according to Mazduh) but there is no medium box or small black box in my car by the ECU either.

2 things
1 sometimes the coolant recall kits go bad and the easy way to fix it is just to remove it
2. the coolant recall has been cancelled by mazda usa, and it may not even apply to canadian cars. (i know the cars in japan had no recalls at all)
