TN rear seat delete

so have no real use for the back seats they are in great condition. are they still desirable? I was thinking of selling to buy the lrb delete or trading for stock bins. should mention it is a 98 rhd.

I would imagine that the rear seats are not as desirable as the bins just because of the practicality. I'm sorry but unless you are an amputee you are not fitting in the backseat of an fd! I know the bins and partition are available still, albeit the bins can go for a hefty price (Atkins has it for $1100). I bought mine from Buyee auctions a couple of years ago for $450 and paid $200 or so in shipping.

I am in the process of trying to interior swap from black to tan and have struggled to find black rear interior side panels. I have heard that you can use the side panels from a car fitted with the rear seats, but I believe they require some minor trimming and the materials are different.

Yea I had just seen a few post from a few years ago and people were jumping on trying to get rear seats don't know why.

Rear seats are at least as desirable as bins and you may find someone who would trade. The fold down feature of the seat back is a better alternative to the removeable "divider" of the bins. When folded it provides an extended flat hatch floor. Meanwhile the lower seat part acts quite satisfactorily as bins. You can dump stuff in them and grab the stuff back out quite easily.

The rear interior quarter panels for the seat vs bins are quite different. I think using seat q-panels with bins would leave some gaps that you would have to deal with. I have never seen anyone try.

The problem is that usually removing the Q-panels results in multiple broken clip mounts, so fussing around to experiment with fitment can be detrimental.

Rear seats used to sell for high prices in the states (because they cost a fortune to ship from Japan), but with the glut of RHD cars coming in now, I assume they're not worth that much any more. Seeing as how they are completely useless.

What constitutes a glut?

Clearly hundreds of JDM cars have been imported into the states since the first cars passed the 25 year mark five or six years ago.

intuition (pulled straight out of my ***)

but based on the number of JDM cars popping up on social media (which includes this forum, YouTube, Instagram, etc.), it's got to be a fairly large number.

if it was just a few dozen cars, it wouldn't have affected the price of FDs in Japan so much.

OK. Thanks for the insight. I'd still blame the Australians for Japan prices.

I am not instagram (and such) so may be missing out.

Maybe one a month showing up on here.

Super Strayans, Kiwis, and Canucks have been able to buy JDM cars for years. The uptick in prices is clearly Muricans finally getting their grubby hands on Golden Era JDM cars.

I have a tan divider and decent set of bins if you want to pay shipping.

I had the rear seat conversion in one fd and it was great when my son was little. We used the FD as a normal car for a while…minus the ac not working at the time 🥵 but I will say the seats made way less squeaks and rattles than the bins. The rear quarters felt more stout.

Are you proposing a sale, or a trade?

Will give to whoever will pay shipping. Either that or need to throw them out which I really don't want to do but just taking up too much space and I know I'll never use it
